This majestic work is inspired by the orchid which is the national flower of Venezuela and if you have followed my previous publications about the architect Fruto Vivas, you will know that it is much more than a striking design. This is the second time I visit this cultural heritage of our country, however, the first time it was under maintenance and I was not lucky enough to appreciate it in its maximum splendor. This time we were fortunate that the work was open to the public and we were able to enjoy the fantastic architectural legacy, which is also known as "the flower of Hannover" since it represented Venezuela in the universal exhibition in Hannover Germany more than 20 years ago. Being such a large structure I can't imagine how tedious it must have been to bring it back to Venezuela in perfect condition.

Esta majestuosa obra está inspirada en la orquídea la cual es la flor nacional de Venezuela y si han seguido mis anteriores publicaciones sobre el arquitecto Fruto Vivas, sabrán que es mucho más que un llamativo diseño. Esta es la segunda vez que visito este patrimonio cultural de nuestro país, sin embargo, la primera vez estaba en mantenimiento y no corrí con la suerte de poder apreciarla en su máximo esplendor. En esta oportunidad contamos con la fortuna de que la obra se encontraba abierta al público y pudimos disfrutar del fantástico legado arquitectónico, el cual también es conocido como "la flor de Hannover" ya que representó a Venezuela en la exposición universal de Hannover Alemania hace más de 20 años. Tratándose de una estructura tan grande no me quiero imaginar lo tedioso que debe haber sido traerla a Venezuela en perfecto estado.

I have always found Fruto Vivas' architectural vision to be exquisite as it fits my ideals. His works always pursue sustainability and are inspired by ecological trends, using recyclable materials or techniques that allow the least use of non-renewable resources. In the case of "La flor de Venezuela", like the "tree to live", a ventilation technique that does not generate energy consumption was used and I can really say that even though in the city of Barquisimeto, where the work is located, there was a very strong heat wave, but inside the flower it did not feel so strong.

La visión arquitectónica de Fruto Vivas siempre me ha parecido exquisita ya que se ajusta a mis ideales. Sus obras siempre persiguen la sostenibilidad y se inspiran en tendencias ecológicas, utilizando materiales reciclables o técnicas que permitan el menor uso de recursos no renovables. En el caso de "La flor de Venezuela", al igual que el "árbol para vivir", fue utilizada una técnica de ventilación que no genera consumo energético y realmente puedo decir que a pesar de que en la ciudad de Barquisimeto, donde está ubicada la obra, estaba haciendo una ola muy fuerte de calor, pero en el interior de la flor este no se sentía tan fuerte.

While doing some research I discovered two characteristics that caught my attention, the first one is that it works with solar energy and the second one is that the rainwater is collected through a system that allows it to be used to irrigate the plants in the gardens. I do not know if this system is working at the moment since I discovered this after visiting the city, but in a next opportunity I would like to investigate further since in Venezuela it often happens that they do not perform the proper maintenance and this affects the optimal functioning of the works.

Investigando un poco descubrí dos características que me llamaron mucho la atención, la primera es que trabaja en cierto porcentaje con energía solar y la segunda es que el agua de lluvia es recolectada mediante un sistema que permite que esta sirva de riego para las plantas de los jardines posteriormente, no se si este sistema esté funcionando en este momento ya que descubrí esto luego de haber visitado la ciudad, pero en una próxima oportunidad me gustaría investigar más a fondo ya que en Venezuela muchas veces ocurre que no realizan los mantenimientos adecuados y esto afecta el funcionamiento optimo de las obras.

It also caught my attention that the design was thought for the petals to open with the sun and close in the absence of it, although the day we went the flower was closed throughout the day and they opened it after 19h 😂 so probably in these times they no longer make use of that feature of the work, that yes, we could enjoy the moment when the petals opened and it was quite a visual spectacle. They added lights to illuminate it during the night, both the flower and its surroundings and if you are at the top at sunset you can enjoy a beautiful sunset which is a super plus considering that Barquisimeto is known as "the twilight city" because of its beautiful sunsets.

También me llamó la atención que el diseño se pensó para que los pétalos se abrieran con el sol y se cerraran a falta de este, aunque el día que fuimos la flor estuvo cerrada durante todo el día y la abrieron pasadas las 19h 😂 así que probablemente en estos tiempos ya no se haga uso de esa característica de la obra, eso sí, pudimos disfrutar del momento en que los pétalos se abrieron y fue todo un espectáculo visual. Le agregaron luces para iluminarla durante la noche, tanto a la flor como a sus alrededores y si estás en la parte de arriba al caer el sol puedes disfrutar de un bonito atardecer lo cual es un super plus tomando en cuenta que Barquisimeto es conocida como "la ciudad crepuscular" debido a sus hermosas atardeceres.

The interior of the flower is decorated with different emblems of Venezuela such as the evolution of the flag of our country since its creation, fish tanks, some replicas of historical works and a glass floor that lights up and adds a nice touch to the design. It also has a pretty fancy restaurant outside, that day I could not visit it because I was in an activity on liketu, but I have it noted among my things to do when I return 🙌 What do you think about this architectural work of Venezuela? El interior de la flor está decorado con distintos emblemas de Venezuela como la evolución de la bandera de nuestro país desde su creación, peceras, algunas réplicas de obras históricas y un piso de vidrio que se ilumina y le agrega un bonito toque al diseño. También cuenta con un restaurante bastante fancy en la parte de afuera, ese día no pude visitarlo porque me encontraba en una actividad sobre liketu, pero lo tengo anotado entre mis cosas por hacer cuando vuelva 🙌 ¿Qué opinan sobre esta obra arquitectónica de Venezuela? ¿Ya la visitaron?
