Hello my fellow Architecture+Design lovers,
How are you guys? I hope that all of you will be well prepared for the coming year 2024. Before the dawn of the new year, a few friends, including myself, had the opportunity to visit a beautiful tourist resort near Nilaveli, a beautiful beach in Sri Lanka. Since I have not had the opportunity to enter this beautiful platform for over two months, I have not had the opportunity to present the attractive architectural features. However, I always try to make the most of the opportunity. Therefore, through this content, I hope to present the eco-friendly architectural elements seen in the Palmera Eco Resort near the Nilaveli beach. First of all, I should mention that these photos were taken with an iOS phone. Therefore, the eco-friendly concepts of this resort can be well understood. So guys let's move on.
So before I mention about this beautiful tourist resort, I will mention how to get there. Palmera Eco Resort is only 265 kilometers from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. Nilaveli should be entered from Colombo via Pulmude road. Before entering the tourist resort, the outside environment is very beautiful. Small plants are planted on the surface of the ground and rectangular stone slabs are installed to walk between. The entrance is made of clay bricks and cement. To commemorate Christmas, we saw a model like Bethlehem showing the birth of Jesus Christ. There was no cement wall on either side of the entrance. Instead, a beautiful pattern has been highlighted in the way dry coconut leaves are spread out.
Because it is located in the northern province, palm trees grow in abundance along the coastal belt. Therefore, palm trees were seen all over the land where Palmera Eco Resort is located. Its large leaves are attractive. On both sides of the entrance, there are two fountains that show the richness of the Sri Lankan tradition. You can also see that the mind will be blown away by the sight as you approach the entrance gate. Then we have to move forward with the pieces of wood on it. Vines have been grown proportionally above like a greenhouse using GI iron pipes on both sides. We have to walk on its shadow. In fact we prefer to spend more time in such beautiful places.
Now you can see that beauty with your own eyes. One can continue on the rectangular pieces of wood to the chosen room. A lot of palm trees can be seen in this area. In addition, a large number of orchid plants have been planted to add environmental decoration. In the construction of tourist resorts, in addition to the facilities of the rooms, care should be taken to create the surrounding environment in an attractive manner. Then more tourist attraction can be obtained.
Now you can see the places to stay. It must be said that there is no heat inside because they have old tiled roofs. Not using asbestos sheets is a good factor to follow an environmentally friendly concept. The yellow color is painted on the walls, so the surroundings glow with green and yellow. The raindrops falling on the pieces of wood has given it a shine.
The roof shape of the single-building accommodation is interesting. At a glance, old architectural elements can be seen here. This can be seen as an annex rather than a single room. Most of the windows are built in these, and even if there is no air conditioning, even if the windows are opened, the breeze of the environment can be felt. I have seen the design on the main door before so I can imagine this is an old one.
Palmera Eco Resort in Nilaveli has single-storied accommodation apart from two-storied buildings. It is noticeable that ornamental plants and flowers have been planted to add beauty to every place. Here the concepts of building construction stand out. Many tourist resorts use models made of cement to walk in. But with the aim of giving priority to naturalness, wood pieces have been used here.
While walking around the tourist resort for a while, I could see the most attractive place. It is a place where family members or friends can have a good time and relax. Dry palm leaves are used for the roof of this place created on a circular cement stone covered model. These palm leaves are spread so that the rain water flows well. I think anyone can say that this place is a remarkable place.
Next thing I got to see was the bath tub which was more attractive. Wooden planks are also laid on the floor to walk onto the pool. It has been designed for bathing as well as water sports. It is certain that anyone will come here, especially because of the beautiful surroundings nearby. A large number of palm trees have grown here. The small plants are radiating green due to the large spread.
In front of the swimming pool are planted trees called Pan, which are used to create mats that grow in paddy environments. These types of features are not usually seen in the swimming pools of tourist resorts. In that regard, these beautiful concepts brought by the administration here should be highly appreciated.
Here, looking from one side of the pool to the other, you can see the buildings for accommodation. There you can see the attractive architectural features of those buildings. On the side of the bathtub, the floor is made of concrete and wood is spread over it. Behind it is another attractive cabin.
A small restaurant to enjoy a glass of alcohol for those enjoying the swimming pool. There are various types of alcohol. Therefore, you have the opportunity to taste any kind of glass of alcohol. Tables and chairs can be set up and you can hang out freely.
At the end, you can see the restaurant prepared for the guests to get food. One side of this is built with dry palm leaf roofing and the other side is covered with a concrete slab. Beautifully shaped chairs are arranged inside. The glow emitted by the light bulbs hanging inside brings a fresh face to the environment. There are no wooden walkways like in other places. Instead, cement bricks are laid. This is a review I made when I visited Palmera Eco resort located at Nilaveli. See you again with impressive architectural features.
