La última hacienda de caña de azúcar de Guarenas, Casarapa.

Hoy, mi esposa y yo vimos rastros de la otrora Venezuela; la misma que luchó con dignidad y orgullo libertario hasta conquistar su título de República; la que construyó una Nación libre e independiente. La Venezuela pujante, donde los valores: trabajo, estudió, respeto y solidaridad estaban fundamentados en la fe de su gente. La Venezuela de sólidos principios morales, éticos y espirituales heredados de los antepasados. La Venezuela en la que la mayoría de sus habitantes comprendieron que la responsabilidad, la puntualidad, el orden y la limpieza, la disciplina, el esfuerzo, el entusiasmo, la integridad, el respeto por el derecho propio y el de los demás, el respeto a las leyes... son algunas de las actitudes de las personas que hacen grande a los pueblos.
Today, my wife and I saw traces of the former Venezuela; the same one that fought with dignity and libertarian pride until conquering its title of Republic; the one that built a free and independent Nation. The thriving Venezuela, where the values: work, study, respect and solidarity were based on the faith of its people. The Venezuela of solid moral, ethical and spiritual principles inherited from the ancestors. The Venezuela in which most of its inhabitants understood that responsibility, punctuality, order and cleanliness, discipline, effort, enthusiasm, integrity, respect for their own rights and that of others, respect to the laws ... are some of the attitudes of people that make people great.

Entering the annals of local history we find that, on February 14, 1621, the town of Guarenas was founded as a town of indigenous doctrine, a name given by the founders, possibly in allusion to the word Huerena, comes from the language Caribbean which means "prairie" or "land of much grass" or "grassland." This is how the indigenous Chagaragotos called these lands, their land.
Adentrándonos en los anales de la historia local nos encontramos que, el 14 de febrero de 1621, se fundó como pueblo de doctrina indígena, el pueblo de Guarenas, nombre dado por los fundadores, posiblemente en alusión a la palabra Huerena, proviene de la lengua Caribe la cual tiene como significado "pradera" o "tierra de mucha hierba" o "herbazal." Así era como los indígenas chagaragotos llamaban a estas tierras, su tierra.

On the land that today occupies the Urbanization Nueva Casarapa there was a farm of the same name that aimed to exploit sugar cane. Fertile land bathed by the Guarenas River and Cloris Creek, today there is an industrial estate and housing complex of the same name of the stream. Hacienda Casarapa borders to the south with Hacienda San Pedro and the El Carmen sector, former rural areas of the guarenera town and border with the Municipality of Zamora. By the way, it is believed that Hacienda San Pedro was possibly the scene of the genesis of the popular Parranda de San Pedro, which is celebrated in both municipalities (but this is another story that I have already told you)
En los terrenos que hoy ocupa la Urbanización Nueva Casarapa existió una hacienda homónima la cual tenía como objetivo la explotación de la caña de azúcar. Terrenos fértiles bañados por el río Guarenas y la quebrada, Cloris, hoy existe una una zona industrial y complejo habitacional homónimo de la quebrada. La Hacienda Casarapa linda por el Sur con la Hacienda San Pedro y el sector El Carmen, antiguas zonas rurales de la localidad guarenera y frontera con el Municipio Zamora. Por cierto se cree que en la Hacienda San Pedro fue, posiblemente, el escenario génesis de la popular Parranda de San Pedro, que se celebra en ambos municipios (pero esta es otra historia que ya he contado)

The Casarapa estate was one of the most prosperous in the country and was operational until the late 1960s. Already in the nineties, The Urbanization Nueva Casarapa was built on the land that were part of the old Hacienda Casarapa, located approximately 30 minutes from Caracas, capital of Venezuela.
La hacienda Casarapa fue una de las más prósperas del País y estuvo operativa hasta finales de los años sesenta. Ya en la década de los años noventa, se construyó La Urbanización Nueva Casarapa en los terreno que formaban parte de la antigua Hacienda Casarapa, situada aproximadamente a 30 minutos de Caracas, capital de Venezuela.
