Hello dear friends of this beautiful community of Architecture and Design. On this occasion I have the pleasure of showing you a beautiful construction that, although it is not very old, it is very beautiful and majestic, it is the Jesus de Miramar Church, although its official name is Church of Christ the King.
This temple is located on Quinta Ave, a very important avenue in the city of Havana. It is a fast road and whenever I was passing by car it always caught my attention because it is a very beautiful construction, I was curious to know its interior. Recently I was walking through this area and found that the church was open, so I did not miss the opportunity to see this architectural jewel.
First I took a close look at its exterior, it is a very strong and well preserved construction, the roof is gabled. When we look at it from the side we can see a large octagonal dome that reminds me of the Havana Capitol because of its large size.
At the entrance there is a sign with the schedule of the different activities, it is open every day, offering masses, baptisms and attention to the needy through the delivery of medicines and clothes.
The façade has three large wooden doors, the central door was open so I decided to enter.
The first thing that strikes me upon entering is the large symbol on the floor that characterizes this congregation, which is a letter S pierced by a nail, and when I look up I am surprised by the beauty and majesty of its interior. It is very large and very well cared for, although it is really very young because it dates from 1953. There is a mural where you can read about the historical and artistic data of this Roman Byzantine style work that is attended by Capuchin religious.
The interior is high, very spacious with vaulted ceiling, decorated arches and marble columns of different colors distributed throughout the interior. There are multiple glass windows that allow the entrance of sunlight that is very intense, there is a lot of clarity and the ventilation is excellent.
There are two rows of large wooden benches separated by the central aisle. The floor is beautifully decorated. All along the upper part of the walls on both sides and throughout the interior are beautiful murals depicting different scenes from the Stations of the Cross. I was able to take a close look at several confessionals made of precious wood.
The atmosphere of peace, silence, serenity and freshness invited me to sit down, at this moment I could appreciate every detail that I had before me and at the same time I began to meditate on many things of our hectic life, this period of time filled me with peace and when I left the church I felt renewed.
On both sides of the church there are several side doors leading to large courtyards. I went out through the right side door and noticed that at the back of the courtyard there is an artificial grotto, I approached and saw an image of Our Lady of Lourdes, known as the patron saint of the sick, very close there is a statue of a woman kneeling praying, it is a very nice set surrounded by ornamental plants. This is an imitation of the Lourdes grotto in France.

En esta ocasión tengo el placer de mostrarles una bellísima obra que, aunque no es muy antigua, es muy hermosa y majestuosa, se trata de la iglesia Jesús de Miramar, aunque su nombre oficial es Iglesia del Cristo Rey.
Este templo se encuentra en Quinta Ave., una avenida muy importante de la ciudad de La Habana. Es una vía rápida y siempre que pasaba en carro me llamaba mucho la atención porque es una construcción muy hermosa, tenía curiosidad de conocer su interior. Recientemente caminaba por esta zona y encontré que la iglesia estaba abierta, así que no dejé pasar la oportunidad de conocer esta joya arquitectónica.
Primero observé con detenimiento su exterior, es una construcción muy fuerte y bien conservada, el techo es a dos aguas. Cuando la miramos desde un lateral podemos ver una gran cúpula octagonal que me recuerda por su gran tamaño a la del Capitolio habanero.
En la entrada tiene un cartel con el horario de las diferentes actividades, está abierta todos los días, ofreciendo misas, bautizos y atención a los necesitados mediante la entrega de medicinas y ropa.
La fachada tiene tres puertas muy grandes de madera, la puerta central estaba abierta por lo que me dispuse a entrar.
Lo primero que me llama la atención al entrar es el símbolo de gran tamaño que está en el piso que caracteriza a esta congregación que es una letra S atravesada por un clavo y cuando subo la mirada me sorprende la belleza y majestuosidad de su interior. Es muy grande y muy cuidada, aunque es realmente muy joven porque data de 1953. Hay un mural donde se puede leer sobre los datos históricos y artísticos de esta obra de estilo romano bizantino que es atendida por religiosos capuchinos.
El interior es alto, muy espacioso con techo abovedado, arcos decorados y columnas de mármol de diferentes colores distribuidas por todo el interior. Hay múltiples ventanas de cristal que permiten la entrada de la luz solar que es muy intensa, hay mucha claridad y la ventilación es excelente.
Se aprecian dos hileras de grandes bancas de madera separadas por el pasillo central. El piso está bellamente decorado. En toda la parte superior de las paredes a ambos lados y a todo lo largo del interior se encuentran preciosas pinturas murales que representan diferentes escenas del Vía Crucis. Pude observar con detenimiento varios confesionarios hechos de madera preciosa.
El pasillo nos lleva al altar principal del Cristo Rey, es una réplica del que se haya en la Basílica de Nuestro Padre de Jesús de Medinaceli que está en Madrid. A los lados del altar principal hay dos capillas, una para venerar a nuestra patrona de Cuba, la Virgen de la Caridad del Cobre y otra dedicada a Santa Ana.
En lo alto, en la segunda planta por encima de la puerta principal se puede divisar un Órgano de tubos muy grande.
El ambiente de paz, silencio, serenidad y frescor invitó a sentarme, en este momento pude apreciar cada detalle que tenía ante mí y a la vez comencé a meditar sobre muchas cosas de nuestra vida tan agitada, este lapso de tiempo me llenó de paz y al salir de la iglesia me sentía renovada.
A ambos lados de la iglesia hay varias puertas laterales que dan paso a amplios patios. Salí por la puerta lateral derecha y observo que al fondo del patio hay una gruta artificial, me acerco y veo una imagen de Nuestra señora de Lourdes, conocida como la patrona de los enfermos, muy cerca hay una estatua de una mujer arrodillada rezando, es un conjunto muy bonito rodeado de plantas ornamentales. Esta es una imitación a la gruta de Lourdes de Francia.
Realmente me sorprendió ver tanta belleza, todo cuidado al detalle, quedé complacida y salí con mucha paz interior. Es mi deseo que les haya gustado conocer esta obra arquitectónica.
