If we look at traditional houses wherever they are, of course we will have a deep impression of how the house was made. From what material, the concept obtained and the story behind this building, surely all of them have different meanings from their respective ancestral stories. Although the buildings that exist today seem modern, but still, traditional buildings have their own meaning, especially for those who understand history.
And today I will tell you about Aceh's traditional house. there are several types of traditional Acehnese houses, after this maybe I will look for other types along with the full story. And today I got an Aceh traditional house from Langsa City complete with plaques or historical stories contained there. This historical story is made in two languages, namely Indonesian and English. From the plaque, it is told that the traditional Acehnese houses here are traditional houses that are 250 to 300 years old. This traditional Acehnese house comes from Gampong Bantayan, Simpang Ulim District. This house is owned by an Aceh merchant named Tengku. NYA YUSUF. In his time this house was also used as a place of study and had been occupied for generations from several generations and passed on to his inheritance. This Aceh house is still original and was moved to its original place to Langsa City in 2005 which was a grant from TGK. NURIMAN. Which is used for historical tourism. This is the historical quote on the plaque. You can read it yourself in English in the Plaque that I share below yach.
Although this Aceh house is still like its original form when it was moved to Langsa City Park, what I see is that there are some modern additions here, such as those under the stage. The management added modern ceramics there. When viewed from this house, this traditional Acehnese house consists of 3 floors, the 1st floor or under the floor, made of ceramic material and many people rest there, while the second and third floors are used to store other traditional items from the house. Acehnese custom.
In the yard of this traditional Acehnese house, we can see a simple flower garden that is neatly arranged and green. There are several administrators there to take care of this Acehnese traditional house so that it is not damaged by visitors who come and deliberately do nosy to damage this Acehnese traditional house. This traditional Acehnese house is made of wood resin which is widely available in the Langsa area. This resin wood is very strong and heavy and is very suitable for building traditional houses so that the house is more durable and anti-termite.
From this traditional Acehnese house, we find many traditional ornaments with Acehnese colors. every carving that we encounter on the pillars and on every window and roof of this traditional Acehnese house has its own meaning. Because I was curious, I asked one of the administrators at the Aceh Traditional House about what the carvings meant there. And it turned out that they explained with Acehnese proverbs which I myself did not understand. The conclusion from everything I caught was that this Aceh house was made very strong to avoid earthquakes that often occur in the Aceh area.
The colors in this traditional Acehnese house also have a very strong meaning and have their own symbols for the Acehnese. Because I don't really understand the Acehnese language. what is clear is this traditional house is very unique and amazed me. I promise this community I will look for some of these Acehnese traditional houses complete with the meaning of the colors based on real sources who can speak Indonesian like me so that I have no trouble extracting information from him.
