Serdang Bedagai is one of the cities in North Sumatra Province. The population in Serdang Bedagai is predominantly Muslim and the ethnic group they follow is 70 percent Malay and the rest are Javanese and other tribes. and the building that I will tell you all about now is the Serdang Bedagai Grand Mosque. This mosque was recently inaugurated and the inauguration of this mosque itself took place on January 7 2021 to coincide with the birthday of the city of Serdang Bedagai. Apart from typical Malay culinary delights which cannot be found in any city, the Great Mosque is also only available in this city.
This Grand Mosque has 2 floors. The first floor consists of an open space which has many community activities. The facilities on the 1st floor include free refills of drinking water, a library and shoe storage as well as toilets and a room for breastfeeding mothers. everything is free of charge. but when I came there and it was the transition season between dry and rainy, there were lots of animals we call Walang sangit there. It is not surprising considering that this mosque is very close to rice fields and rubber plantation areas which are often found in Serdang Bedagai.
from the 1st floor to the 2nd floor there is a winding staircase. However, these stairs are made not only for those who are healthy but also for those who are disabled using wheelchairs or ladders so that the steps are made only straight and do not have any steps. and up to the second floor I could see the building design up close. However, I feel that this mosque is only magnificent in its design, but it is not too big to accommodate many worshipers in the mosque and if you really want to accommodate more worshipers, you can actually do it in the courtyard of the mosque which is very spacious.
from the second floor, starting from the inner roof design, it is decorated with an ornamental design in brown with a golden yellow streak and decorated with abstracts with religious calligraphy that surrounds the top of the roof, creating a luxurious impression. Then from this floor I can also reach the spiral-shaped decorative lamp with my hands, but it's not possible because I'm afraid of being electrocuted. and from here I can also see the design of the curves of the body of the mosque and see clearly what material this mosque is made of and the large pillars with the interior and abstract design which are given a calm silver color.
On the walls near the entrance on the second floor there are also dark green ornaments which I forgot what material this is made of. It's clear here the walls of the mosque are covered with these ornaments like wallpaper but my knowledge is limited regarding this, maybe you can help me provide Know what material is attached to the wall.
and because this mosque is very striking with its many towers with a tower height of 45 meters and there are no buildings taller than this mosque, this mosque is very easy to recognize and from the appearance of this mosque it makes itself known. and because this mosque has a large parking area, many motorists from outside the city use this mosque as a rest area to rest before continuing their journey to the next city, because Serdang Bedagai is also a transit city if we want to go to the Lake Toba tourist attraction.
and that was my experience when I visited this place? A mosque with a very beautiful architectural design and calm because it is far from distractions. and that's all I can tell you all. In the future I will share with all of you other beautiful buildings. Greetings from Maytom
