Hello everyone. How are you? Hope you are doing fine. Did you enjoy your meal today? I want to tell you the places I've been. I want to discuss the interior design of this place. This place is over 100 years old. The name of this place is the Jakarta Cathedral Church.
This place is always interesting to visit. For me, this place is so beautiful and witnessed by the great architectural design, during the Dutch occupation. And at the same time, this building has become a symbol of religious tolerance in Jakarta. This is because this church is across from a very large mosque in Jakarta, namely the Istiqlal Mosque.
Actually this place is not hard to find. Located in the middle of the city and several other important places. I visited with my friend when I first went to Jakarta. So, the photos I post are a compilation of photos that I and my friends took. This building looks like neo-gothic architecture that was once popular in Europe. From the outside, this building looks very beautiful.
The design of this building is very similar to church buildings in Europe. I need to say that this building is very beautiful, sturdy and well maintained, even more than 100 years old. On top of this building, there are three towers. First, the Bull Tower of David is located in the north. Then, Ivory Tower is located to the south. The ivory tower has a clock that still works. Finally, the tower with a prominent shape is called the Tower of the Angel of the Lord.
From a distance, this tower has caught the eye. Because it's so high. For the height of the tower the Angel of God has a height of 45 meters. Then, the tower of the Bull of David and the Tower of Ivory, has a height of 60 meters. The interesting thing about these 3 towers is that they have a beautiful meaning. The Bull Tower of David symbolizes Mary as a protector from darkness. While the Ivory Tower is symbolized as the virginity of Mary.
What about conditions in the church? When you enter the church, at the entrance of this church it already looks majestic and beautiful. At the main entrance there is a statue of Maria that reads "Beatem Me Dicent Generations". The writing is a prayer for Catholic Christian followers to be happy.
Then, you will find the main door of the church. You will see a brick slab stuck to the wall that says the founder of this church. This church was founded by the Architect Marius J Hulswit in 1899-1901. I have to admit, the architectural design of this place is very beautiful because it was built with architecture. Then, the design of this building was Pastor Antonius Dijkmans.
If you walk around this place, you will be fascinated by the other interior designs. There are pillars up to 17 meters high that line up to support the roof of the church and form an alley. For the ceiling, there is a very beautiful wood material. It enhances the beauty of the ceiling of this building. When I come here, I feel very warm and familiar. In the middle of the room, there are rows of benches for visitors to come. There is a pulpit that was installed in 1905.
This pulpit has a roof that is shaped like a seashell to reflect sound. On the right and left walls of the interior of the church, there are paintings of the way of the cross. This painting was made by Theo Molkenboer, an artist from Amsterdams. The picture started hanging on the walls in 1912. So, my story is about the places I visited.
