Hi everybody. Are you okay? I hope you are alright. Some time ago, I visited one of the biggest stations in Jakarta, Gambir Station. For those of you who like to travel by train on the island of Java, this station seems familiar to me. This station is intended for those of you who travel between cities by using executive trains. I am one who likes traveling by train. Seems like a lot of fun.
But, I will discuss about the architecture and design of this museum. This station also has a very long history in Indonesia. This station was built when Indonesia was colonized by the Dutch. If you were born in 1970, you can see the design and architecture of the Dutch colonial era. However, in 1990 the station underwent a major architectural and design change.
In 1697, this place was built for a sugar cane mill or sugar mill. This place is called Weltevreden. Then, in 1871, this place was changed to Koningspleing Bus Stop. This bus stop is managed by the Dutch government. In 1884m, it was converted into a station called Weltevreden Station. This is one of the history of Gambir Station. Initially this station was used for trains to Bandung and Surabaya.
In 1906, the station had a roof stacked on iron bearings of the Staatsspoorwegen (SS) design. Then, in 1928, the station changed its design and interior to an Art deco style. The roof for passengers on the platform was extended to the north side by 55 merer. However, the changes didn't stop there. In 1937, this place changed to the name Batavia Koningsplein Station.
In 1992, the station was revived and renovated into an elevated station. In fact, this station was changed to Gambir Station. The design of this station has survived to this day. In addition, this station is an operational area for region 1 which has four train lines. The destinations are Bandung, Cirebon, Semarang, Jogja, Solo, Tegal, Surabaya and Malang.
In terms of station design, this station currently has a typical Joglo house which has three levels. Joglo house is a traditional house in Indonesia. This station was co-designed with the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Bandung. This station has a dominant green color. The green color is found in many parts of this station. The floor of this station is installed with green glossy porcelain. The designer of this place is very smart, in this station you can find the Tiqlal mosque and Monas. That's a sign, if this station is in the center of Jakarta.
For me the design of this building is very simple. With a design like a Joglo house, this station has supported the Executive Heritage design concept. The design theme adapts the typical architecture of Neue-Art Deco and Joglo. This building is so majestic and spacious. At the same time, in 1992 I thought that the interior design of this place was changed to The New Age of Batavia, which suggested new changes in the outdated Gambir Station.
This change is marked by a number of facilities at this station. For me, this station is very friendly for people with disabilities. This hospitality is characterized by guilding blocks and priority seats. Currently this station has e-ticketing, e-looking services and a number of various waiting rooms. The image of this station is comfortably dynamic. In fact, the Art Deco atmosphere cannot be separated from the station's design.
