Hi everybody. How are you? I hope you're okay. This week, I have to go to the office every day. It's tiring. I have to accept this because it is a consequence of what I did last week. I want to tell you about a place that I think is very beautiful, the engineering museum in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, Indonesia.
I want to tell you briefly about this place. Built in the early 19th century by the French. Then, sell the place to the Turks. Then, in 1945 it became the headquarters of the "Pancasila youth front". It was also used by one of the organizations fighting for Indonesian independence. In 1945, Indonesia had just become independent. For historical records, it is listed as a historic building.

Since Indonesia's independence, these buildings have continued to change. Until finally in 1975 it was used to preserve Indonesian textile traditions. It was only on June 28, 1976, that it became the official textile museum displaying Indonesian batik. Currently, batik is one of Indonesia's cultural heritage that is included in the UNESCO list.

I will discuss about the design and architecture of this building. At first glance, this building is indische style. This style developed in Indonesia in the mid-18th century until the end of the 19th century. From several sources that I studied, this style is an imitation of the neoclassical change style that was popular in the mid-19th century. This style is very suitable for buildings in tropical climates such as Indonesia. This style is also known as Indian style. At first glance, this building has a unique architectural design and character. Among them:

1#. It has a symmetrical plan with one floor, open, with pillars in front and behind the colonnade. The middle foyer contains the bedroom and other rooms.
2#. There are pillars that rise like stone style and are crowned in the colonnade on the front and back
3#. Then it has a roof with a shield type building.

In addition, this building when viewed from above looks symmetrical. Throughout the museum area there are several buildings with new architecture. In some interviews, if in this area there is a new building. The new building was created to store a large collection of batik in Indonesia. And used for batik exhibition hall.

For an old building (Indische style), it looks symmetrical and balanced. For all parts of the roof throughout the building using a shield roof covering which is the hallmark of the indisce style. There are ornaments that use Indonesian elements, especially tropical elements. Some of these innovations are
1#. This building has an open foyer at the front, back or front of this building.
2#. Wide overhangs. Overhangs are used to insulate walls and windows from incoming sunlight or when it rains.
3#. The height from the ceiling is up to 4 m and the ventilation from the building is above the doors and windows
4#. There is a tropical garden with a large population of plants
