Kalemegdan is a part of Belgrade that includes a park, a museum of weapons and the terrain around the place where the Sava flows into the Danube.
The history that marks the Kalemegdan fortress is almost two thousand years long. During that time, the invaders took turns building, demolishing, extending and rebuilding the fortification. From prehistoric earthen ramparts, to today's city park.
Model of the ancient city of Despot Stefan Lazarević.
The name Kalemegdan comes from the Turkish words kale (tower) and megdan (fight).

Some of the remains are really interesting and attract attention with their past.
ROMAN WELL:
If any part of Belgrade has numerous legends, then it is Kalemegdan, where one of the greater mysteries is located, and that is the Roman well.
The Roman well was built in the middle of the 18th century, the name of the well was given by the people of Belgrade during the 19th century.
The well is in the shape of an underground room from which a corridor leads to the Royal Gate and is characterized by an impressive size - it is 3.40 m wide and 35 m high.
What can also be said about the Roman well on Kalemegdan is that it is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for many artists.
