Most of the people have heard about the huge furniture store called IKEA which has its branches all spread across world.
I have been living in Hyderabad for a month now and got a chance to visit Ikea. India have only two Ikea stores as for now and one of them is in Mumbai and other in Hyderabad.
We all know how famous is Ikea but do you know how?
Honestly, there are plenty of business strategies which made it very successful. Ikea have both ready to take furniture and to be built furniture. DIY {Do it yourself} has been a trend when people create something themselves there is an emotional connection which binds them to the furniture.
Ikea did this and bought many customers.
The other most important strategy is the planning. Usually Ikea stores are made on a huge plot of land and the entry and exit to the building is not very simple as one might think but the exit is made on purpose at extreme end of the store and the directions to exit take a person all around the store so that they can see almost every other item present in the store and purchase even those items which they didn't came in at the first place.
Isn't this strategy unique and successful?
Going with the trend has been Ikea's motto. Considering how people run for the touch of modern styling to their home and even people love to renovate and give new twist and turns to their workplaces
Do you know the basic thing that imagining and visualising is not everyone's cup of tea and that is the most important thing for a designer should know. That is why there are renders, 3d models and what not in the field.
Similarly selling something which requires visualisation should be depicted so that people from varied range of creativity can visualise and purchase. Creating temporary open rooms with some furniture set in a way that would look fascinating to people around and they are automatically lured to click pictures and make their mind up to create something similar at their homes and ultimately they end up buying stuff.
White beige and light pastel colours are so in these days and that was widely seen at the store itself. The everything white and luxurious is no more an hazel to maintain since Ikea offers easy to clean and maintain white furniture from pendant light to chairs, they got you covered. there were such different sections showcasing the different in trend styles for people of different taste.
To change or renovate a smaller section of home, generally people do not hire an interior designer due to many reasons like money and small amount of work. so getting over at Ikea, one can see predesigned and arranged set of furniture. I actually enjoyed and saw some cool and latest trending styles.
For people like me who are fan of bold and dark furniture got our fair share of space over there as well. The play of bold colours and being brown, black, burgundy etc were clearly visible there. The setting showed how classy or not a style would look like with all the lamps, rugs, cloth and furniture. Even the temporary walls had laminates/ paint which were according to the setting of the furniture like some had paints and wall hangings whereas in the picture above they had wooden laminate on walls as well as furniture.
Are you weak at imagining the measurements? Ikea got your back. Demo furniture showcasing the dimensions are quite handy and easy to go. One can see the dimensions clearly and work their way out in the store.
Now that people gets the taste of how fantastic a setting would look when placed in a right styling. There are stacks of comfortable and modern styling which would be super interesting to go through and most of all anything one would have looked up on Pinterest, Same or somehow similar furniture could easily be found over there.
The high ceiling and large racks of diy furniture is the most fascinating part of this store, from displaying to stacking, everything is done on display which is smart move to save extra costing on factory stacking.
The variety is the forte as from stools to sofas, there are plenty of options to go for. people were really happy and fascinated by the designs. Many of them were purchasing the furniture. From different colours to different styles, there was literally everything one looked for.
The management was really fine, From CCTV's to staff accompanying lost and found section were really corporative.
The presence of such huge big bull of furniture market in our country is a pleasure, Since it brings in employment and they have started creating some furniture here in India as well which is great for our economy and people gets to experience great stuff as well.
Not just huge furniture but store got you covered in small details as well, from a mug to a frame you get everything here.
The most creative part was the center of the escalator which had these cute toys and this was actually the most fun usage of the space. Leading upto the food court as this was somehow like a huge interior furniture's mall and people like me feel hungry soon. So, while you reach the second floor grab in some toys for your kids.
Track lights are so in these days, we had track lights in our studio in college but I can see now working as professional that track lights are part of home décor as well. So I bought some for my home. They are super easy to install.
The exit and entry was all bright yellow and blue in colour. The joyful emotion mixed with industrial and modern styling was found not just in the furniture over there but the store's designing as well. All open ducts with steel frame running around ceiling and the huge racks stacking almost all of the materials and furniture was plus point. The food court was amazing and so was the store.
