Mugling Town is the connector of multiple big cities of Nepal including the capital city. The town is one of the busiest transit for entire supply chain to Nepal. In this process, one of the important role is played by the Mugling Bridge . This one here is the old one which used to be the focal point of connecting to Western Region for treks, travel, & expeditions.
Mugling Bridge is the busiest traffic hill destination connecting to the entire Western-Hill Region of Nepal.
The bridge was built in 1972 with a capacity of 5000 Metric Tonne. It has served a monumental role in the food supply through out the country. This has been also a major route for road transportation in the Western Hills of Nepal.
To be in the space can be intimidating as considered old. But, its even in a good state considerably the time it was built. The fresh air out of trishuli river and the scenic hills around makes it refreshing joy. Trishuli river is also known for its river foods, so as to get served the travelers stop by the bridge. Most of the travelers would love to stay around and take some of their time for photographs and tea or coffee as well.
The building nearby the bridges are layered on the sandy land of the river bank, going upto 5 storyed. These buildings are concrete built with concrete foundation supporting them.
The local buildings are connected with the fast flowing river down the ridge and is providing a time for travelers to take rest and be in the space around the architecture and river. These buildings are usually restaurants or hotels serving with a river side view.
There are junks around the cable, but it hold strong for now while the knots are rusted as well. Here, the cable holds the pillars and panels of the bridge. These days, the bridge is of no use, however it still could hold normal flow of vehicles and hundreds of two wheeler vehicles pass through the route everyday.
Recently, the old one was replaced by a modernized new bridge.
Connected with strong multiple cables, the old bridge had been standing strong since decades. Interestingly, the knots, the floor panel, pipes, and concrete are getting rusted with time. Walls can be seen painted with random words, dust, garbage, but also some nice garffitti can be seen around the wall of architecture.
Route Purpose:
On the one side is cities like Kathmandu, Bharatpur, and other terai belts cities connected with India. While the other side is Pokhara, Baglung, Gorkha, etc. (Mostly, a favorable hill destination depending upon tourism and agriculture)
While these two connections are almost integral part of entire Nepal economy, Mugling Bridge marks a important point for trade and business. The supply from India, Nepal, & China while international cargo moves to western tourist destination from the bridge.
Two decades ago during Maoist insurgency, the bridge was the most used for transportation of supplies to the north-western part of Nepal.
The bridge between western part of the country economy and supporting the other side with tourist economy, Mugling bridge had played a vital role in connecting both side. It has been a pride of national transportation, economy, and supply chain for almost 50 years.
New Arch Two lane.
The new one has been recently launched aide by side in replacement to the old one. Now the two lane, arch shaped bridge is 125 m long and recieves more than 20,000 vehicles everyday. While its modern look is really gives a shine to growing need of major urban planning, the old one still holds the aesthetic vibes to it.
