Hi friends
Today I bring you this modern building in my city.
Built to group all the social security offices scattered around the city.
Osakidetza headquarters is the Department of Health of the Basque Government located in Bilbao, Basque Country Spain
It is a modern building with new architectural techniques called
Double wrap-around facade
Externally it is a cluster of geometric figures, rhombuses, triangles, right angles, etc.
All separated and framed in metal, at different levels and angles, this makes the building appear to have a life of its own.
Its crystal skin that always reflects the mood of the city, from an intense blue to the gray of a rainy day.
As it is not a straight building, each angle the view it reflects is completely different.
Built by the Coll Barreu Arquitectos studio, its work ended in 2008
The building has seven floors, although they cannot be seen from the outside, the reflection prevents you from doing so.
The basement has three floors for parking since it is in the center of the city and it is difficult to park, to take advantage of the space a car ride is your entrance to the garage.
In the upper part or tower houses the council room.
The double envelope building, the insulation from the outside, the fire resistance of the building and perfect for the new energy value.
The air conditioning as we know it and the double ceilings that we were used to seeing in all offices until now are eliminated.
Thus the room is brighter and more intimate, making the space healthier and eliminating the sounds of the building, making more use of space and reducing costs.
The building's skin, that's what I like to call it since it seems to have a life of its own, it has 2,200 m2.
The crystals seem to be suspended in the air with their aluminum frame, one separated from the other but all assembled in perfect harmony.
Being on a corner it looks like the mask of the most classic buildings that it has around it.
The tower-shaped attic also makes it look like a castle a crystal castle
Its total cost was 14 million Euros, which we paid with our taxes.
The people of Bilbao officially call it the building of 100 faces since, as I have told you, it depends on your location, the view changes completely.
At first it seems that it is a building that does not match or is in accordance with those around it, but we are a city that looks to the future and we appreciate beauty and originality and Bilbao is modernizing thanks to all the open minds that we have, We do not want to anchor ourselves in the past but rather to advance to the future, with our buildings more in line with the environment with all the advances that we can afford, giving my city an avant-garde air.
As architecture advances, we advance and modernize, making the city prosper and be a call to the people who visit us, be it because of the relaxed atmosphere we have, because of the good food or because of our architecture.
That makes us move forward in the world, be more respectful with the environment and try to move forward for the betterment of all.
We are becoming a city with a clean sky after being an industrial city full of smoke and bad smells from the chimneys, today our estuary is recovering from that brown water full of heavy metals the city has a more modern face.
These pictures are taken last Sunday morning with an almost blue sky.
I hope you see its beauty
