hello friends in the architecture and design community, last week I discussed the karo tribe jambur building. Today I am still discussing the typical architecture and design of the Karo tribe graves.
Karo tribe graves have unique and magnificent architecture and building designs, because the uniqueness and splendor of the Karo tribe graves affect the good name and social status of the deceased. This means that the more magnificent the architecture of a cemetery, the higher and richer the status of the deceased will be.
families of people who have died will bury their family members not in public graves but on land belonging to their families, families will be ashamed if they bury their family members in public graves, this means their family is a poor family with low social status. Karo will design their family's grave with magnificent architecture.
The design of the karo tribe grave has the characteristic of a buffalo head on the roof, the grave building is usually in the form of ceramic bricks. Buffalo head design is always present in every architecture, this signifies success and as a repellent.
On the roof or on the poles there are many decorations typical of the Karo tribe, in the form of lizards, various fruits and flowers (because many of the karo tribes work as farmers), on average the karo have a large area of land as a form of establishment in the karo tribe.
Another interesting architecture of the graves of the Karo tribe is a flat grave model on the top, this is so that families who are on pilgrimage can sleep on top of the building to release their longing for deceased families. Another uniqueness found in his tomb is photos and biographies contained in his tomb.
Karo tribe graves are also designed to be able to put fresh flower bouquets or flower vases, because the Karo tribe will replace the withered flowers with new fresh flowers. The uniqueness of this tomb is also due to the fresh flowers found in the tomb. Tanah Karo which is dominated by the Karo tribe is one of the producers of fresh flowers and fruit in the province of North Sumatra, Indonesia. Therefore, fresh flowers are always present in the graves of the ancestors of the Karo people, as a form of appreciation and affection for their children and grandchildren.
Because the graves of deceased ancestors and family members are buried in private fields or land, making it easier for the living members to make pilgrimages.
magnificent architecture and unique designs signify the vast fields owned by the ancestors. so that the heirs will make buildings with magnificent designs.
if the Karo tribe's house is made of wood, but for the tomb it is made of a magnificent building made of brick, ceramics and other materials that seem modern.
such is the unique design of the tomb of the karo tribe. Do you think the karo tribe's tomb design is unique?
