Let's Go For A Walk
Enough lazying, let's go walking around the neighborhood! I have to admit I have been lagging on my exercises again and the proof can be seen on my face and belly. Something needs to be done!
So the husband (who is more keen on me getting the exercise than I) asked me to come with him for a walk around the park one early evening. I said, "Why not?", I've been wanting to, but I haven't been able to find time for it. I sleep late most days hence I wak up not feeling refreshed enough for an early morning walk. The rest of the day is full packed of things to to, I do not have enough energy left for an exercise even at night.
So out we went, and guess what, it also became a chance for me to spot some great shadows that I can share for this week's Shadow Hunters Contest #198.
Umm Al Emarat Park
We went around the Umm Al Emarat Park. I used to come here almost every day some time back and get my #automaticwins -- 10,000 steps before 10am. Oh, how I wish I can have that motivation back...
Anyway, I know the motivation will not come back just by wishing - action needs to be taken, so let's just get down to business...
Here's a photo of the front gate of the park. Not in the photo, but there are more park-goes nowadays already. They just need to present a green code throught the government's tracker app to be allowed entry.
Anyway, I have take lots of photos of this gate before, but it's the first time I take one for the Shadow Hunters' purpose... It's always beautiful especially at night time with all the bright lights illuminating the entrance. We all know - when there's light, there must be shadows!
This one will also be my contest entry for the week...
Three Churches In One Frame
As we go around the park (yes, we do not go inside the park but instead jog around the park's ouside perimeter), we pass by this churches complex. At the left is the Maryam Umm Eisa Masjid (Mary Mother of Jesus Mosque), St. Joseph's Cathedral in the middle, and the St. Anthony Orthodox Church at the right.
Where are my buddies?
These two did not want to be left behind at home so they also jogged around with us. While it definitely did slow us down, I love it when they come with me in such activities. I am always at awe at how they are still mega-energized even after a day full of playing and other activities.
After almost completing one lap around the park, they just had to sit down on one of the benches.
They were no longer up for another lap. So it was time to cool down. "Why did I ever come here?" the Little Man whined... but sure enough, he still came with us again the following evening!
As we were cooling down, I had a chance to take more photos -- here's another one from near the entrance gate. The lights on the ground casted beautiful shadows on the wall. I had to take a snap quickly before the guard could see me! LOL.
Spotlight: Dates Palm
There were spots along the jogging path that were dark, while there were portions that were lit up from the bright street light at the parking area.
The big, bright street lights made these shadows of the dates trees. Actually, it was this sight that made me realize that I could hunt for some good shadow photos here around the park... I hope I did justice to them.
That's it for me! I hope you all are having an excellent week so far.
Take care and happy shadow hunting!
