Hello, SMaShers! We're on to the final stretch of the year. In just a few days, we will be celebrating Christmas and then we'll be off to welcome a new year (and the 200th Round of the Shadow Hunters Challenge!). Crazy, eh?
The year 2021 literally just passed right before my eyes and I feel like I have not been very productive this year... I really do not know what happened to 2021. I am not so proud of mine. You see, I even overlooked recharging my prepaid roaming Philippines SIM card that I got caught off guard when one day I opened it and it did not have a signal anymore. Seriously, it only felt like yesterday when I recharged it, but checking my messages, it was in June 2020! The credits expire after a year and so it's been since June this year when the SIM was on grace period.
SIM Card Hunting
My Philippine SIM card is connected to my PH bank and an e-wallet that are both active so I was really concerned that I may lose access to my accounts. My mind was racing how to get a SIM card - maybe ask friends who are on holiday in PH to buy for me but that would take longer, search online (I could not find links by some friends say there are sellers online), or find a physical Filipino store that is selling.
And that I did... I took my chances and visited one Filipino grocery store to check whether they had SIM cards available.
Time for some shadow hunting!
We took the bus to the City Centre and while waiting, we stayed inside the shed. I almost missed the beautiful shadows and only noticed them when the bus was already coming. Fortunately, I was still able to get some snaps.
I had to take a second look at these beautiful patterns on the floor. They did not look like shadows at first glance. The bus was literally just a few meters away and I had to take this photo in haste. I still think that this photo stands out hence this is my entry for the week.
Fortunately, the first Filipino grocery store we went to had a SIM card available (last in stock, actually!) and I was able to breathe a sigh of relief. The SIM card was already roaming activated - I need not do anything apart from inserting it on my phone.
As you can see it is worth PHP 40($0.80) but it was sold for AED 20 ($5.43) but as my aunt said, it had to take a plane to get here so... π
I also put reminders to recharge it at least every three months to avoid it from getting deactivated.
Pedestrian Bridge
Going back home, we took the pedestrian bridge and again got a chance for some shadow hunting. I previously shared how the bridge looked at night, so here it is at daytime.
We love taking the bridge whenever we get thr chance because it lets us have a different perspective of the road - - the cars rushing beneath us.
The shadows made it look like there were more holes on the steel railings!
Holes! Holes! Holes!
More holes on the road as we went down the bridge.
It was a nice and pleasant afternoon walk that I got to spend with with my Little kiddos. They love to tag along and while I normally do not allow them to come with me these days (for safety), I couldn't resist this time. At least they do not complain about long walks. See, they even had the energy to make me go up th bridge!
Mission accomplished! SIM card hunt na shadow hunt completed!
