It was past 6:00 in the morning and I am walking my way to MRT Taft Terminus to catch up a ride going to the City of Mandaluyong to accomplish some errands. The sun was already shine so bright, a very welcoming relief from the heavy rain that occurred in the evening. The soft glow of the early morning sun which created a very striking contrast, casted long shadows on the It was a busy morning with buses, cars, jeepneys and many motorcycles that seems to be racing against time in moving to one direction.
Then another set of vehicles was captured by my lens except for the bus that is left on the frame, perhaps due to its size, which cannot move rapidly unlike the smaller ones.
As the bus left, it casted a long shadow from its rear side which almost covered the shadows of smaller vehicles.
At the opposite direction of my vantage point, a passenger jeepney passed by which projects a pencil-like shadow.
Suddenly the sun was shrouded by clouds, which caused the shadow of these vehicles to become pale.
Still on the same location and the sun was able to free itself from the clouds and its golden rays once again radiates on the pavement to show its prowess
of which added a dramatic ambiance to the surroundings.
Then I headed to the train's passenger loading platform as the sunlight once again partially diffused causing the shadows casted mostly by fellow commuters to be lightly toned that indicates the on and off weather that is happening and I hope that there will be no rain after I disembark from the train as I have to walk for about a hundred meters and surely I will be soaked by the rain upon reaching my destination.
As the train moved along, I saw the sun slowly rising from the horizon, which in turn continued to illuminate the city streets with its golden rays, which brought a myriad vista of soft-toned shadows from the running vehicles silhouetted on the asphalt.
I indeed reached the place where I am going and finished my errands. Afterward, I walked further to find more shadows to photograph as the desire to to so is so overwhelming, just like my earlier reflection hunt. As a man from the barrio, a rural area from the provinces of the Philippines, I rarely get to be in a place like this, so I wanted to make the most of it, and my feet brought me near the vicinity of SM Megamall, where I found a police car parked under an elevated walkway, of which the shadow offers a temporary relief for the patrolmen to cool themselves off while doing their routine under the heat of a bustling city.
As the sky gets darker again due to the clouds that affect my shadow hunting session, allow me to post this final shot; my story comes to a close. The shadow of the moving MRT train on the busy street below felt like the perfect symbol for this journey—a reflection of all the moments that have passed. Thank you to everyone who has browsed my content and been a part of this ride.
This is my FIRST entry for Shadow Hunters SMAsh Contest-Round 386 hosted by . Again, thanks and happy Monday to everyone!
