Hello everyone, and a warm greeting to all Shadow Hunters! ๐ฟ This is my entry for this week's Shadow Hunters Community Contest / TO THE REFLECTION HUNTERS CONTEST Round 272. Last Sunday, at around 3:00 in the afternoon, my family and I made our way to Kaamulan Zoo Park here in Malaybalay City and I'm so glad we did. A huge thank you to
for organizing this wonderful contest through
!
The moment we arrived at the koi pond, I was immediately captivated. Dozens of vivid orange, red, and golden koi glided beneath the surface like living flames. The water reflected the surrounding tropical trees, creating the most beautiful shadows โ perfect for this contest!
The pond itself is a serene little world โ bordered by smooth river stones and lush ferns, with a charming wooden arched bridge on one side and a cascading rock waterfall on the other. Banana plants, giant tropical leaves, and tall trees form a lush green curtain all around. It felt like stepping into a secret garden right in the middle of the city.
Habitat: Fresh water
Lifespan: Up to 200 years
Diet: Insects, algae, aquatic plants, pellets โ and even rice, watermelon, peas & lettuce!
Status: Domesticated
What I love most about this spot is how the koi cast their own underwater shadows โ rippling, shifting, dancing beneath the surface alongside the reflections of clouds and swaying leaves. Nature doing its own shadow art!If you ever find yourself in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, I highly recommend a visit to Kaamulan Zoo Park. It's a peaceful escape surrounded by nature โ and the koi pond is absolutely worth the trip.
