my contest entry is a rather mysterious image with shadows, light and straight lines.
while it might be hard to recognize what it is from the above image alone, i wanted to focus in on the detail before revealing more of the scene.
it is an exterior door opened at an angle. what i like most is how wide the door is open determines the angle of the sunlight/shadow along the width of the door. had the door been closed the lines would have been horizontal. the principal in physics is very simple yet i find the effect quite fascinating- how the angle of lines of light and shadow change as the door opens and closes. and how different the angle is on the thickness of the door as opposed to the width. as a funny little detail- somebody taped a message on the inside of the exterior door saying the interior door should not be locked.
though it has little to do with the shadows, the black weather stripping contrasts nicely with the otherwise white and gray door, especially in the first photo
