This morning began with remembrance, We went to the cemetery to honor the death anniversary of my aunt. a quiet visit filled with prayers, memories, and the kind of silence that only places like that can hold. It was a simple gesture, but one that carried weight, reminding us of love that continues even after loss.
Afterward, we started walking toward the bus stop to catch a jeepney ride home. The sun was already high, and the heat was intense. It was one of those mornings where the light feels almost too strong, pressing down on everything, leaving no corner untouched.
And because of that, the shadows came alive.
As we passed by a building, I noticed the railings casting long, repeating patterns onto the pavement. The shadows stretched and curved along the ground, forming a rhythmic line that guided our path. Each bar of the railing translated into a strip of shade, dark and defined, like a silent echo of the structure above.
It was striking how something so ordinary could create something so visually compelling.
In that moment, I paused. Despite the heat, despite the fatigue from the morning, I felt drawn to capture it. I took out my phone and snapped a photo, knowing this would be perfect for this week’s contest entry.
This is an initiative of . I hope you enjoy it.
