Shadows on the Way Up
Two days ago, while waiting for the bus that would take me back home after another period of being lodged at the hotel where I work, I noticed a different kind of shadow.
It came from a metal staircase leading to the roof area of the office building. The morning sun was doing its work over the courtyard and the surrounding sidewalk, projecting the structure in a strong and defined way. The staircase has a protective frame around it, designed so that whoever climbs it cannot fall backward, and at the top there is a small platform before reaching the roof.
Looking at it, I could not help thinking about how often that idea repeats itself in life. Sometimes, in order to reach higher places, we also need protection, balance, or something to hold onto while climbing. The shadow of that staircase became more than just lines on the ground; it felt like a quiet reminder hidden in an ordinary scene.
The photos were taken with my mobile phone, and for the English version I used DeepL Translate.

Sombras en el camino hacia arriba
Hace dos dÃas, mientras esperaba el ómnibus que me llevarÃa de regreso a casa después de otro perÃodo albergado en el hotel donde trabajo, me percaté de una sombra diferente.
Se trataba de una escalera metálica que conduce hacia la cubierta del bloque de oficinas. El sol de la mañana hacÃa lo suyo sobre el patio y la acera circundante, proyectando la estructura de forma fuerte y bien definida. La escalera tiene una protección alrededor, diseñada para evitar que quien sube pueda caer hacia atrás, y arriba posee una pequeña plataforma antes de llegar al techo.
Al observarla, no pude evitar pensar en cómo esa idea se repite muchas veces en la vida. En ocasiones, para llegar más alto, también necesitamos protección, equilibrio o algo a lo que sostenernos mientras ascendemos. La sombra de aquella escalera terminó siendo más que simples lÃneas sobre el suelo; parecÃa un recordatorio silencioso escondido en una escena cotidiana.
