Cielo de claraboyas es uno de los cuentos que más me han gustado. Siempre fui lectora, pero de novelas, ya que nunca me atrajeron mucho los cuentos. Sin embargo, todos los que he leído de esta autora argentina me parecieron magníficos.

Silvina Ocampo fue una escritora, cuentista y poeta argentina. Nativa de Buenos Aires, nació el 28 de julio de 1903 y falleció el 14 de diciembre de 1993. Su primer libro fue Viaje olvidado (1937), compuesto por relatos breves, y el último Las repeticiones, publicado póstumamente en 2006. Se la considera una de las escritoras más importantes de la literatura argentina del siglo XX. Recibió el Premio Municipal de Literatura en 1954, el Premio Nacional de Poesía en 1962, el Gran Premio de Honor de la SADE en 1992 y el Premio Konex en 1984.

Sky of Skylights was originally published in Forgotten Journey, the first volume of short stories in 1937. This story tells the history of a girl who observes the life of the family living above through a skylight.
El cuento se presenta de una forma extraordinaria. Es un simple relato donde la inocencia se une a la crueldad y el humor negro. El terror y el espanto son palpables en cada descripción de los acontecimientos. La niña observa e interpreta hechos perturbadores que suceden en el piso de arriba y que ella interpreta mediante una claraboya, que distorsiona la realidad. La narración, cargada de una adjetivación muy explícita, le da realce al horror de cómo una pequeña interpreta la realidad de lo que ve y lo que oye. Pies desnudos, zapatos y faldas negras se van mezclando con la identidad de las personas que habitan aquel departamento y su forma de expresarlo a veces hiela la sangre. Al ir leyendo aquellas palabras nos vamos dando cuenta del horror que significa: la narradora presencia lo que parece ser el asesinato de una niña. No adelanto más porque me gustaría que lo leyeran. No se van a arrepentir.
The story is presented in an extraordinary way. It is a simple tale where innocence meets cruelty and black humor. Terror and dread are palpable in every description of the events. The girl observes and interprets disturbing events that happen upstairs and that she interprets through a skylight, which distorts reality. The narration, loaded with a very explicit adjectivation, enhances the horror of how a little girl interprets the reality of what she sees and hears. Bare feet, shoes and black skirts are mixed with the identity of the people who live in that apartment and their way of expressing it sometimes chills the blood. As we read those words we become aware of the horror: the narrator witnesses what seems to be the murder of a little girl. I won't say more because I would like you to read it.
