Obligatory, 'I am not a financial expert, so don't look at me for advice.'
Just throwing out some quick thoughts of what happened last night.
What did you expect to happen last night?
Did you think that Elon was gonna come out and convert all his BTC to DOGE on live TV? Were you expecting him to have a t-shirt with 'To the Moon' and a golden shib printed on it throughout the whole show? Maybe you expected him to announce that you can now purchase Tesla cars straight from your Doge wallets? For me, I think last night's show was a lesson many people need to learn.
Curb the enthusiasm
None of the above was going to happen because it is SNL. It is a comedy show selling comedy, and frankly, only a few jokes landed. Those jokes that landed for me were the ones where he made fun of himself and his tunnels. After what happened on 4/20, Elon's appearance on SNL was bound to cause a whale to sell their coins to scare off the minnows into panic selling. That was more believable than thinking it was gonna shoot to the moon.
My Reaction
I sat down, got a Totino's Party Pizza ready with some Fig Newtons, and watched the shit show go down. I don't actually have cable, so I was surfing pirate channels on Youtube (in hindsight, I might have been able to find it here). As those channels were being taken down for copyright, so was Robinhood going down because of activity, and so was the value of our little shib.
I can't deny, it has been a hell of a ride this month has been. Coming from .35 to .74 to .45 in its first week. I already bought this week, so I am just hodling through the current dip.
What now?
Doge took a good 30% dip at the time of this writing but is coming back up. I don't have any solid predictions on the state of the coin, but I feel like it's around the point it should be, the .6 range. The coin is not dead, there was a solid buyer push during the show, but with RH going down 'again,' it really did not help the situation. All the other crypto enthusiasts absolutely despise the coin because of the community and Elon, and it's understandable. Hell, he sat there and called it a 'Hustle.' Really though, isn't all currency just a hustle anyways?
Ride On!
