I must admit as a Librarian, I have not been able to visit the library or a bookshop for months now. I don’t think this is a good idea for me. Well, this could be a result of the power of the internet. The internet must have been able to provide me with a lot of information about life. But at the same time as a Librarian who’s believed to know all according to the profession, I’m supposed to visit the library, bookshop, and other information centers rather than only focusing on the use of the internet alone.
Most times, the library, bookshops, and many other paper-based information centers are shouldered with the responsibilities of holding specific information that one may not be able to access through the use of the internet. Yes, I know that the internet provides varieties of knowledge across the globe but categorically through experience. Without paper-based information materials, I don’t think the internet can exist.
Well, I’m not here to focus on the differences between paper-based information centers and the internet. But I’ll talk about that some other time. I’m only relating my point to my visit to a bookshop during this Christmas season. The truth is that before a reader source the internet, he/she must be focused on the type of information he/she is seeking as a reader. But when a reader visits any paper-based information centers like the library, bookshop, museums, archives, and many others. The reader or information seeker may likely see some information he didn’t plan for and that will surely be of help to the user.
During the Christmas and New Year seasons, I and my family love reading and watching motivational books. But to be honest, this year 2022 wanted to skip my memory not until when my little and only daughter, for now, called my attention. She worried me to get her Christmas carol songs. I didn’t have any other option than to visit a nearby bookshop in Makurdi Benue state, Nigeria.
The bookshop is known as the Ultimate Discovery Bookshop. It’s located opposite the Benue State University Makurdi (BSU). I once visited this same bookshop last 2021 Christmas and here I’m again for the 2022 Christmas and New Year season.
When I entered the bookshop to get a Christmas carol song in paper and audio form. I have to go round the bookshop. Going through the bookshop, I noticed the number of information material in the bookshop has increased significantly than the last year when I visited last.
The number of books that I saw in the bookshop got me motivated to take enough pictures and share them with you. When I was taken some of the pictures from the bookshop, through the shelve lists of the bookshop, I saw Our Daily Manna Book by Dr. Bishop Chris E. Having an interest in motivational books, I had no option but to buy the book.
While I love Our Daily Manna Books! They're the kind of books that elevate us about life. Daily manna books grow and prepare us for the future. They’re the kind of books to be read especially during the Christmas and New Year seasons. The book teaches about self, planning, wealth, the environment, and many other things to make life better.
Before I left the bookshop, I bought the Daily manna book, Christmas carol songs in audio form, wine, and the supper bread. I also complimented the owner of the bookshop for the good work she has been doing to keep such a paper information-based center a moving one. Yes, in case you don’t know the Ultimate Discovery Bookshop, Benue State Makurdi, Nigeria is owned by a woman.
