En esta historia conoceremos a Paul Sheldon, un escritor famoso por sus libros sobre Misery, una mujer intrépida y valiente, pero él ya está algo harto de ella y en su último libro decide matarla para ponerse a escribir otras cosas. Un día tiene un accidente y despierta en la casa de Annie Wilkes, una enfermera que se ocupa de él y que dice ser su fan número 1. Ella lo tiene secuestrado en su casa mientras él intenta recuperarse. Todo se complica cuando Annie lee el último libro y ve que Misery está muerta, ahí le muestra la verdadera cara de la locura y la miseria a Paul y lo obliga a traer a Misery de vuelta a la vida. Un autor que tenía muchísimas ganas de leer y gracias a que mi amiga me regaló el libro pude introducirme en su escritura. No sé muy bien que esperaba, pero cumplió mis expectativas y me sorprendió. Sobre todo porque tiendo a pensar en el terror más que nada relacionado a masacres y monstruos por doquier, pero en este libro lo que da terror es encontrarse con la miseria humana.
An author that I really wanted to read and thanks to my friend who gave me the book as a gift, I was able to get into his writing. I don't really know what I expected, but it met my expectations and surprised me. Especially because I tend to think of horror more than anything related to massacres and monsters everywhere, but in this book what is terrifying is to encounter human misery.
En estas páginas conoceremos a Anne Wilkes, una mujer que tiene alguna especie de trastorno y que cometió muchos crímenes, tanto en su trabajo como enfermera, como en su vida. Y su camino se va a cruzar con el pobre escritor Paul Sheldon. Lo que sufrí junto a este personaje, la pasé muy mal con cada tortura recibida y cómo a pesar de todo el quería seguir adelante, con ese instinto de supervivencia que se le activa a uno en momentos adversos.
In these pages we will meet Anne Wilkes, a woman who has some kind of disorder and who committed many crimes, both in her work as a nurse and in her life. What I suffered with this character, I had a hard time with every torture received and how despite everything he wanted to move forward, with that survival instinct that activates one in adverse moments.
Hay algunas escenas que me dieron muchísima impresión por su contenido gráfico, les juro que podía imaginarme todo y me daba rechazo y repulsión. De verdad sentía resolverse mi estómago, estaba muy comprometida con la causa de sentir empatía. También me dio mucha pena la tortura psicológica que vivió el personaje, sobre todo cuando le hizo quemar su manuscrito inédito de un libro que tardo 2 años en escribir. Yo creo que hubiera preferido que me corten la mano, miren lo que les digo, leer eso me provocó dolor porque pensaba en los años de trabajo que le llevó para que al final terminará en la hoguera. Muy triste, como les decía, estuve muy comprometida con la causa de sufrir con el libro al igual que el protagonista jaja.
There are some scenes that made a huge impression on me because of their graphic content, I swear I could imagine everything and I was repulsed and repulsed. I also felt very sorry for the psychological torture the character went through, especially when she made him burn his unpublished manuscript of a book that took him 2 years to write. I think I would have preferred to have my hand cut off, look what I'm telling you, reading that caused me pain because I thought of the years of work it took for him to end up at the stake. Very sad, as I said, I was very committed to the cause of suffering with the book as well as the protagonist haha.
Pero no me quejo porque fue una lectura excelente, me gustó mucho la narración y la historia en sí, es muy atrapante y te mantiene en vilo. Además es como tener dos historias en un mismo libro porque al mismo tiempo podemos ver todo el proceso de escritura del nuevo libro sobre Misery, y también estaba interesante esta parte. Me pareció muy irónico como Paul volvió a conectarse con su escritura en momentos tan tensos de su vida, siento que esto lo ayudó a sobrellevar el cautiverio y las torturas, y le dio un motivo para seguir adelante. Él de verdad escribió el mejor libro de la saga de Misery mientras vivía su propia miseria, me pareció muy poético.
But I'm not complaining because it was an excellent read, I really liked the narration and the story itself, it's very catching and keeps you in suspense. Also it's like having two stories in one book because at the same time we can see the whole process of writing the new book about Misery, and it was also interesting this part. I found it very ironic how Paul reconnected with his writing at such a tense time in his life, I feel this helped him cope with the captivity and tortures, and gave him a reason to keep going. He truly wrote the best book of the Misery saga while living through his own misery, I found it very poetic.
No quiero extenderme mucho, pero les recomiendo este libro a todos los amantes del género y a los que quieran empezar a leer a King, siento que fue un muy buen primer libro como para empezar a leer otros de él.
