En el día de hoy les traigo la reseña de un gran clásico de la literatura: Mujercitas de Louisa May Alcott.

Today I bring you the review of a great classic of literature: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

¿De qué trata? - What is it about?

Mujercitas nos narra la vida de 4 hermanas, las March, que si bien comparten sangre son bastantes diferentes las unas de las otras. Cada una de ellas nos va a enseñar sus virtudes, sus flaquezas e intentaran equilibrar la balanza dándose cuenta a tiempo de sus errores para poder revertirlos y así llegar a convertirse en las mujercitas que su madre y padre, que está en luchando en la guerra, querrían que fueran.
La historia nos va a contar las aventuras de estas hermanas mientras esperan el regreso con vida de su padre y todo lo que tuvieron que pasar, además de lo que aprendieron en esa larga espera.

Little Women narrates the life of 4 sisters, the March, who, although they share blood, are quite different from each other. Each of them will show us their virtues, their weaknesses and will try to balance the scales, realizing their mistakes in time to reverse them and thus become the little women that their mother and father, who is fighting in the war, would like them to be.
The story will tell us the adventures of these sisters as they wait for their father's return alive and all that they had to go through, as well as what they learned in that long wait.

Mi opinión - My opinion

Es un libro muy sencillo de leer, no tiene demasiadas complicaciones. Digo esto porque algunos clásicos tienen una pluma un poco difícil de entender, no es el caso de este libro.
Adoré leer a estás hermanas tan elocuentes, cada una con una visión distinta de la vida.
Está la mayor, Meg, que es bastante vanidosa, le gusta lo ostentoso y se preocupa por su apariencia. Es la más bonita de sus hermanas. Es muy sociable y arrastra a sus otras hermanas a fiestas y reuniones. También es la más emotiva de todos.
Luego le sigue Jo, ella es la oveja negra por decirlo de alguna manera, la idealista. Jo quiere hacer cosas que en aquella época está mal vista que quieran hacer las mujeres, no le gusta para nada arreglarse ni usar vestidos, es sencilla. Tiene un carácter bastante marcado y cuando se enoja es muy testaruda y no da el brazo a torcer. Su sueño es ser escritora.
Después sigue Beth, ella es la más tímida de todas sus hermanas, la dulce y tierna, la callada, la que parece que pasa desapercibida pero en realidad es el corazón de la familia. Beth tiene un gran corazón, es la más querida y protegida por su familia.
Por último se encuentra Amy, la más caprichosa, la más peleadora, la que va al frente. La que tiene una fortaleza increíble y se propone conseguir todo lo que quiere. La artista de la familia. Creo que es una de las que más madura a lo largo de estas páginas.

It is a very simple book to read, it does not have too many complications. I say this because some classics are a bit difficult to understand, but this is not the case with this book.
I loved reading these eloquent sisters, each with a different outlook on life.
There is the eldest, Meg, who is quite vain, likes the ostentatious and cares about her appearance. She is the prettiest of her sisters. She is very social and drags her other sisters to parties and get-togethers. She is also the most emotional of them all.
Then she is followed by Jo, she is the black sheep so to speak, the idealist. Jo wants to do things that at that time it was frowned upon for women to want to do, she doesn't like to dress up or wear dresses at all, she is simple. She has a very strong character and when she gets angry she is very stubborn and does not give in. Her dream is to be a writer.
Then comes Beth, she is the shyest of all her sisters, the sweet and tender one, the quiet one, the one who seems to go unnoticed but in reality is the heart of the family. Beth has a big heart, she is the most loved and protected by her family.
Last is Amy, the most capricious, the most feisty, the one who goes to the front. The one who has incredible strength and sets out to get everything she wants. The artist of the family. I think she is one of the ones who matures the most throughout these pages.

Me gustó mucho conocer la historia real detrás de la adaptación. Vi la última versión de la película que salió en el 2019 sin haber leído el libro y creía que era bastante fiel. Fue una sorpresa descubrir que en realidad no fue así. Ahora entiendo el descontento de la gente. Es terrible la libertad que se tomaron al hacer esta película.
Todo el tiempo espere con un nudo en la garganta el desenlace fatal que por suerte no pasó. También espere cierta confesión que nunca sucedió en realidad.

I really enjoyed learning the real story behind the adaptation. I saw the latest version of the movie that came out in 2019 without having read the book and thought it was pretty faithful. It was a surprise to find out that it really wasn't. Now I understand people's discontent. It's terrible the liberty they took in making this movie.
All the time I waited with a lump in my throat for the fatal denouement that luckily didn't happen. I also waited for a certain confession that never really happened.

Por otro lado me encantó poder leer el libro, lo tenía pendiente desde hace rato. Ya lo puedo tachar de la lista.
Fue una sorpresa con lo que me encontré, para bien, pensé que iba a ser más denso pero nada que ver. Lo disfruté mucho, hubo momentos divertidos, momentos para la reflexión, momentos para la tristeza. La fortaleza que se vio en estas niñas y adolescentes, la fortaleza de su madre. La bondad de todas, resume muy bien la historia.

On the other hand I was delighted to be able to read the book, it was long overdue. I can now cross it off the list.
It was a surprise with what I found, for the best, I thought it was going to be denser but nothing to do with it. I enjoyed it very much, there were funny moments, moments for reflection, moments for sadness. The strength that was seen in these girls and teenagers, the strength of their mother. The kindness of all of them, sums up the story very well.

Me gustó ver también parte del rol que cumplían las mujeres en aquellas épocas, ya podemos vislumbrar algún acercamiento de querer revelarse contra lo que les está prohibido hacer. Un cambio de rumbo y aspiraciones a las que no se está a favor.

I also liked to see part of the role that women played in those times, we can already glimpse some approach of wanting to rebel against what they are forbidden to do. A change of course and aspirations that are not in favor.

Sin dudas es una gran historia que recomiendo leer en algún momento de la vida.
Mi mamá me contó que ella lo leyó de joven, fue casi uno de sus primeros libros y le encantó. Me alegra que haya tenido a estas niñas como inspiración en su época. Ahora podemos discutirlo y hablar al respecto, aunque dice que ya no se acuerda tanto de la historia. Lo bueno es que siempre se puede volver a sus páginas para una relectura.

Without a doubt it is a great story that I recommend reading at some point in life.
My mom told me that she read it when she was young, it was almost one of her first books and she loved it. I'm glad she had these girls as inspiration in her day. Now we can discuss it and talk about it, although she says she doesn't remember the story so much anymore. The good thing is that you can always go back to its pages for a reread.
