About this time last week, I wrote a book review on the First book from Miles High Club Series, titled 'The Stopover'. So today I will be talking about the two books from the series titled, 'The Takeover' and 'The Casanova'. Also before I forget, the writer of these series, T.L Swan just announced the release of another book in the series titled, 'The Do-over' scheduled to be published by 30th of August, 2022. This makes me believe that she is not done with the series yet.
Review of The Takeover Book.
This book was published on the 27th August, 2020, with 477 pages. Reading this book was very hilarious for me, I had lots of laugh out loud moments that got me wanting for more.
This book is about Tristan Miles, the second son of the Miles' family. They called him The Takeover lord because he is business minded and a risk taker from among the four sons of the Miles family. Tristan specializes in hunting for companies that are about to go bankrupt, he buys them and transforms the company into something big under the Miles' Media family business. He does this without emotions, he knows what he wants and he go to get it without any apology. He is ruthless and tough. Without him, Miles Media would have expanded across Europe.
Tristan soon found a company that he has been interested in taking over for years, Anderson Media. This company belongs to Claire Anderson, who is a single mother of three boys and widowed five years ago. Claire has been going through tough times in her company alongside her best friend Marley. Her company is about to go bankrupt even though she had done everything within her power to keep it afloat, but nothing seems to be working, but one she received an email from Tristan Miles offering to have a meeting with her to offer her a good deal for her company. Claire declined his offer so many times, but Tristan persisted until Marley convinced Claire to arrange for a meeting.
When they met, Claire was annoyed with herself and Tristan because she found Tristan irresistibly beautiful and she hated herself for finding him attractive. The meeting did end well, because Claire thought Tristan was an arrogant fucking asshole going after her dead husband's company. After the meeting, Tristan couldn't stop thinking about her and he decided he was going to get her at all cost as he fantasized everyday of having her underneath him shivering with the feel of ecstasy. Did he get her at the end? Let me not spill the rest of the steamy and hilarious story.
My Opinion About The Book and Rating.
Honestly, I didn't expect this book to be interesting because of Tristan dominating attitude, but I was blown away with this book. The writer was very realistic and meticulous with her choice of words and how she built her characters. She did a fantastic job! She wrote the book in such a way that it was 50% steamy and 50% comedy, I don't know how she managed to mix the two genres together in such a fine way. I will give her kudos for that.
She also dived deep into the issues that comes with dating a single mother, she totally changed Tristan's character from a playboy to man with integrity and still maintain his sexiness. I fell in love with her characters, they were all amazing. Talking about her writing techniques for this book, I would say 'a straight to the point', there was no mystery or repetition of scenes, no erratic changes with characters' behavior and no unmatched scene in the plot. The setting of the book was perfectly described with right amount of word, and language was simple and easy to understand.
Rating this book, I will give it 4.5 stars. It was a wonderful read for me. At the end of the book, the writer shocks me with an unexpected end that made me want a Tristan Miles for myself. If only real men were like him. Are you looking for matured romance to read, then this book is for you.
Review Of The Casanova Book
'The Casanova' was published on the 26th August 2021 with 507 pages and when you read the book I can promise you that you finish it within a day because of how the writer keeps you hooked till the end.
This book is about the third son of the Miles' Family, Elliot, who heads the branch of Miles Media company which is located in London. He is called the art lover and the Casanova because of how woman flock around him. He was considered a badass playboy of all time as he became the idol of the social media, but all is not well with Elliot as he has a worker in their company whose mission was to make his life a living hell by sarcasm and infuriating him. He refers to her as a witch hell bent on devouring him. Her name is Kate, an IT manager at Miles Media. One a fateful, Elliot came across a CCTV feed of Kate, dressed in a red fishnet gown dancing and shaking her behind seductively. Every since then, Elliot's feellings towards her changed from hatred to something he did understand.
Kate, is a woman who is hiding behind her parents death that happened six years ago. It affected her badly that she had to shut down all her emotions. Hiding behind her parents, she continues to live a life of solitary and conserved life. Her hobby was to keep infuriating Elliot which she derives pleasure from. She hates him so much that, she wouldn't let Elliot breath freely around her and she does this with the assurance that Miles Media can't let her go as she is the best they have heard over the years.
Kate hates the fact the Elliot is undeniably handsome, rich, and has the charm to get any woman he has. She is falling him and she hates herself for it. Disappointed with her lover life, Kate opened a dating site account and unknown to her, She matched with an account named Edgar, who is Elliot Miles. What will happen? Will Kate fall for her boss?
My Opinion About The Book.
One thing, that I love about this book is the fact, Elliot and Kate kept messaging each other every day from anonymous dating site account. It kept the story filled with mystery and suspense. Also, I want give the writer a kudos for mixing four genres together, which are ; erotica, comedy, mystery and crime. She did it in an amazing way that as you read the book, you don't get bored but instead it will leave you wanting more.
Her character development was amazing. I love the connection between Elliot and Kate have, their humor, and their fights. This book gave me different range of emotions, it was erratic, I was angered, swooned, happy, giggled and among others. The plot had this twist which led to an unexpected and swoon ending.
In the plot, the writer got to show us a different side of Elliot which is the soft and romantic side. In the case of Kate, the writer showed us, the happy side, side that has emotions and capable of love. At the end, the writer reveals to us the mystery behind a crime that was committed by Kate's family member. That part made me curious and made wanted to read more about how the crime part ended, but she left us in suspense as usual. Rating this book, I will give it 4.5 stars and I would recommend it to Romance lovers and young adults.
