Hello, Hive friends! 4.50 from Paddington was the first book I read by this fantastic author and it is one of the ones I usually reread, as I can't get enough of Miss Marple's cunning and her crimes to be solved. It was published in the UK by Collins Crime Club in November 1957.

Summary: Mrs. McGillicuddy takes the 4:50 train after a long day of Christmas shopping and witnesses a crime being committed on a train running next to hers. She immediately alerts the conductor and then the police, but no one believes her because the body is missing.
Es una típica historia de crímenes de esas en que el suspenso y la intriga la caracteriza. Aquí interviene uno de los personajes que más me gustan de la autora, la anciana Jane Marple, investigadora aficionada que en más de una ocación ha ayudado a la policía. En esta ocación su amiga, Elspeth McGillicuddy, toma un tren para ir de visita a su casa, cuando en el trayecto otro tren se pone a su altura y ve desde su ventanilla como en uno de sus vagones un hombre estrangula a una mujer hasta matarla. De inmediato da cuenta del hecho a las autoridades y, más tarde a la policía. No obstante, nadie le cree porque no hay otros testigos y sobre todo no hay cadáver. Pone en conocimientos de los hechos a su amiga y, por suerte, ella sí le cree. Entonces comienza a preparar la búsqueda del cadáver y le pide ayuda a Lucy Eylesbarrow, una joven inteligente, para encontrarlo. La zagás anciana descubre que si alguien arrojó un cuerpo del tren tiene que haber sido en los terrenos de la gran casa de la familia Crackenthorpe, donde Lucy ingresa como doméstica. La historia transcurre cuando la joven comienza a ser testigo de los oscuros secretos de la acaudalada familia y cómo las cosas comienzas a ponerse siniestras.
It is a typical crime history of those in which suspense and intrigue characterize it. Here intervenes one of the characters I like most of the author, the elderly Jane Marple, an amateur investigator who on more than one occasion has helped the police. On this occasion her friend, Elspeth McGillicuddy, takes a train to visit her home, when on the way another train pulls up alongside her and she sees from her window how in one of its carriages a man strangles a woman to death. He immediately reports the incident to the authorities and later to the police. However, no one believes him because there are no other witnesses and above all there is no corpse. He informs his friend of the incident and, fortunately, she does believe him. Mis Marple begins to prepare to search for the body and enlists the help of Lucy Eylesbarrow, a clever young woman, to find it. The sagacious old woman discovers that if someone threw a body off the train it must have been on the grounds of the great Crackenthorpe family home, where Lucy enters as a domestic. The history transpires as the young girl begins to witness the dark secrets of the wealthy family and how things begin to get sinister.
