I was very excited about this contest because it got me thinking. What is the book that changed my life the most? I have read many books although personally I think I started late in the beautiful world of reading.
So I spent a lot of time thinking about this question. Hundreds of texts passed through my mind, but which one could be the one that has impacted me the most to the point of changing my life, and it was at that moment when I remembered the second platonic dialogue that I read in my first year of university, I was in the first semester and I was studying ancient philosophy and the professor after having read and studied the text of "Apology " asked us to read the dialogue:

It is this text among the many Platonic dialogues that has changed my life the most, even though it is the least extensive dialogue of the Athenian philosopher's repertoire.
The dialogue Criton is a dialogue where Plato exposes in a beautiful way, the mood and character of his teacher Socrates, and it was his idea of justice that changed my way of thinking about life. My favorite part of the text is when Socrates, at the insistence of his friend Criton who asked him to escape from prison, and thus avoid the death penalty. Criton was willing to bribe the security guards in order to leave with Socrates; and Socrates invents an imaginary dialogue with the laws of Athens, demonstrating to Criton that one should not return evil for evil.
And this is the main idea of the text, and that I loved so much, Socrates uses reason to show his friend that it is painful to suffer an injustice, but it is more painful to commit an injustice. And that under no circumstances should we respond to an injustice with another injustice.
It is no secret to anyone that Socrates was unjustly condemned and put to death, and he accepted the unjust sentence. The father of philosophy died after drinking hemlock, a poison that gradually extinguished the greatest light of the most luminous century of ancient Greece.
The Platonic dialogues of this first stage of the Philosopher founder of the Academy contain an ethos directed towards the good, the just and the beautiful. Their purpose is to persuade and lead us to live a virtuous life.

It is a book that I have re-read many times and it always amazes me as if it was the first time I read it. In fact I read it again to make this post, it doesn't take you more than two hours to read it completely and I say two hours doing a slow reading, stopped, I am one of those who read slowly, a habit of those who read a lot of philosophy.
You who read me, I recommend this text but if you are going to read it, do it slowly, advancing little by little through each paragraph, and you will notice ideas and approaches totally valid and applicable in our current society.

Me ha emocionado mucho este concurso porque me ha puesto a pensar ¿Cúal es el libro que más cambio mi vida? He leido muchos libros aunque personalmente creo que comencé tarde en el hermoso mundo de la lectura.
De modo que pasé mucho rato pensando esta cuestión. Pasarón cientos textos por mi mente, pero cuál puede ser el que más me ha impactado al punto de cambiar mi vida, y fue en ese momento cuando me recordé el segundo diálogo platónico que leí en mi primer año de carrera universitaria, estaba en el primer semestre y cursaba la catedrá de filosofía antigua y la profesora después de haber leído y estudiado el texto de "Apología" nos pide leer el diálogo:
"Critón"
Es este texto entre los muchos diálogos platónicos el que más ha cambiado mi vida a pesar que es el diálogo menos extenso del repertorio del filósofo ateniense.
El diálogo Critón es un dialogo donde Platón expone de manera bella, el talante y el carácter de su maestro Sócrates, y fue su idea de justicia lo que me cambió mi forma de pensar la vida. Mi parte favorita del texto es cuando Sócrates ante la insistencia de su amigo Critón que le pedía que se escapará de la cárcel, y así evadir la pena de muerte. Critón estaba dispuesto a sobornar a los guardias de seguridad para así salir con Sócrates; y este se inventa un dialogó imaginario con las leyes de Atenas, demostrando a Critón que no hay que devolver mal por mal.

Y esta es la idea cumbre del texto, y que tanto amé, Sócrates utiliza la razón para demostrarle a su amigo que es penoso sufrir una injusticia, pero es mas penoso cometer una injusticia. Y que bajo ninguna circunstancia debemos responder a una injusticia con otra injusticia.
No es para nadie un secreto que Sócrates fue condenado y conducido a la penade muerte de manera injusta, y él aceptó la injusta condena. El padre de la filosofia muere luego de tomar cicuta, veneno que poco a poco apagó la mayor luz del siglo más luminoso de la antigua Grecia.
Los dialogos platónicos de esa primera etapa del Filósofo fundador de la Académia contienen un ethos con dirección al bien, a lo justo y bello. Tienen como fin el persuadir y llevarnos a vivir una vida virtuosa.
Como lo han visto en las imagenes no poseo el libro en físico, solo lo tengo en digital. No lo he conseguido pero sé que lo conseguiré en algún momento... Es un libro que he reeleido muchas veces y siempre me asombra como si fuese la primera vez quelo leo. De hecho lo leí de nuevo para hacer este post, no te lleva mas de dos horas leerlo por completo y digo dos horas haciendo una lectura lenta, detenida, soy de los que leen lento, un hábito de los que leemos mucha filosofía.
Tú que me lees, te recomiendo este texto pero si lo vas a leer,hazlo lento, avanzando poco a poco por cada párrafo, y notarás ideas y planteamientos totalmente vigentes y aplicables en nuestra sociedad actual.
