Finally, a woodcutter hears his music and comes to meet him, being the human companion he was looking for, just as the animals manage to free themselves to seek revenge. Reading these 10 pages was a disconcerting experience. What struck me most is that, unlike other stories where the protagonist is a virtuous hero, here the musician is an arrogant and somewhat ruthless character.

La música, de una belleza prodigiosa, atrae sucesivamente a un lobo, un zorro y una liebre. Sin embargo, el músico no busca la compañía de animales; él desea un ser humano. En lugar de compartir su arte con los animales que lo admiran, el violinista los engaña de forma cruel: aprovecha su deseo de aprender a tocar el violín para dejarlos atrapados en situaciones dolorosas (un lobo con las patas prensadas en un árbol, un zorro colgado y una liebre atada). However, in the hands of this musician, art is transmuted into something sinister: it becomes a weapon of division, control, and subjugation. The violin is not a tool for connection, but bait to exercise power over those who are ‘inferior’ to his human rank.

Por otro lado, lo que más termina por impactar al lector es la gélida falta de empatía que exhibe el protagonista. En nuestra concepción moderna y romántica, solemos ver la música como ese 'lenguaje universal' capaz de derribar barreras, un puente espiritual que une a todos los seres sintientes bajo una misma emoción. Sin embargo, en manos de este músico, el arte se transmuta en algo siniestro: se convierte en un arma de división, control y sometimiento. Ultimately, I don't recommend it. After analyzing its scant 10 pages, I've come to the conclusion that it's not my style of reading. Although I recognize its historical value within the folklore of the Brothers Grimm, I found the plot disappointing due to the protagonist's personality. I don't enjoy stories where the common thread is arrogance and unnecessary cruelty towards beings who only admired art. For me, reading should be a space for connection or, at least, interest in the hero's fate, and in this case, the musician repelled me so much that I couldn't enjoy the story. If you're looking for a story you can empathize with or that leaves you with a positive message, this is definitely not a book I recommend.
