After her father steals money from the Bratva, Nina is forced to choose between her freedom and the death of her entire family.
Nina is a girl whose father works in real estate so she never saw it coming that he was involved with the Russian mafia, let alone stealing $3 million from them (pretty stupid of him, if you ask me).
To avoid the death of her entire family, Nina "decides" to marry Roman, the boss (Pakhan) of the Russian mob for 6 months.
6 months. Just enough time Roman needs to distract the Bratva from mounting a rebellion against him, considering him incapable of leading because he is in a wheelchair and not yet married. A wife , in the mafia world means that there will be heirs available to take over when the leader falls.
The plan is as follows: pretend to be madly in love for 6 months and then Nina can get on with her life, or so it is hoped...
Painted Scars is the first book of the Perfecly Imperfect saga. A saga of mafia and romance where the main characters have some Imperfect. In the author's words, "damaged antiheroes". They can be crazy, ruthless, jealous and possessive, but above all passionate when they love, capable of burning the world for their girl, and the most important thing is that they all have happy endings.
I had been hearing about this saga for months on BookTok (the literary side of Tik Tok), and they assured me it was really good, so I wanted to give it a try.
And the truth is that this first book did not disappoint me. It was a very entertaining enemies to lovers and I liked the main characters, especially Nina.
Nina is a woman with a very cool personality. She's funny, strong, brave and has a lot of character, plus she's a little crazy 😅 She's an artist and I mean that. In the book she is a sought after painter whose works fly after being on display. I liked her although for a moment I thought she behaved very stupidly, but you'll find that out when you read the book.
On the other hand, Roman is a hunk. He's super sexy but also quite possessive, without taking away the tenderness, because yes, one thing is business and another thing is home and how he treats his wife. I mean, like an empress 😍🤌 What we all want. Seriously, it's very tender. He totally softened up to Nina. He became a cuddly little bear (but only with her, obviously).
Really, I haven't seen literary men treat their wives better than a mafioso 😅 Quite passionate and devoted.
Something I thought was really cute was the way they both support each other to overcome their traumas which are quite fat.
In short, it's a good book. I read it super fast as it was quite light. I give it 4 stars. I don't give it 5 stars because although I liked it a lot, it's not one of the best books I've read. I mean, it wasn't that WOW. Let's not exaggerate 😁

Luego de que su padre le robara dinero a la Bratva, Nina se ve obligada a elegir entre su libertad y la muerte de toda su familia.
Nina es una chica cuyo padre trabaja en el mercado inmobiliario por lo que nunca vio venir que este estuviera involucrado con la mafia rusa, y mucho menos que les robara 3 millones de dólares (bastante estúpido de su parte, si me lo preguntas).
Para evitar la muerte de toda su familia, Nina "decide" casarse con Roman, el jefe (pakhan) de la mafia rusa durante 6 meses.

El tiempo suficiente que Roman necesita para distraer a la Bratva y así no armen ninguna rebelión contra él, por considerarlo incapaz de liderar al estar en silla de ruedas y no haberse casado aún. Una esposa , en el mundo de la mafia significa que habrán herederos disponibles para hacerse cargo cuando el líder caiga.
El plan es el siguiente: fingir estar locamente enamorados durante 6 meses y luego Nina puede seguir con su vida, o eso es lo que se espera...
Painted Scars es el primer libro de la saga Perfecly Imperfect. Una saga de mafia y romance en dónde los protagonistas tienen algún Imperfecto. En palabras de la autora, "antihéroes dañados". Pueden ser locos, despiados, celosos y posesivos, pero sobretodo apasionados cuando aman, capaces de quemar el mundo por su chica, y lo más importante es que todos tienen finales felices.
Tenía meses escuchando de esta saga en BookTok (el lado literario de Tik Tok), y aseguraban que es buenísima, así que quise darle una oportunidad.
Y la verdad es que este primer libro no me ha decepcionado. Fue un enemies to lovers muy entretenido y me gustaron los protagonistas, especialmente Nina.
Nina es una mujer con uns personalidad muy genial. Es divertida, fuerte valiente y tiene mucho carácter, además, está un poco loca 😅 Ella es una artista y lo digo en serio. En el libro es una pintora muy solicitada cuyas obras vuelan luego de estar en exhibición. Me gustó aunque por un momento me pareció que se comportó de forma muy estúpida, pero eso ya lo descubrirán cuando lean el libro.
Por otro lado, Roman es un tipazo. Es super sexy pero también bastante posesivo, sin quitarle lo tierno, porque sí, una cosa son los negocios y otra cosa es el hogar y como trata a su mujer. Es decir, como una emperatriz 😍🤌 Lo que queremos todas. En serio, es muy tierno. Él se ablandó totalmente con Nina. Se volvió un osito cariñosito (pero solo con ella, obvio)
De verdad, yo no he visto hombres literarios que traten mejor a sus esposas que un mafioso 😅 Bastante apasionados y devotos.
Algo que me pareció muy lindo fue la forma en la que ambos se apoyan para superar sus traumas que son bastante gordos.
En resúmen, es un buen libro. Me lo leí super rápido ya que se me hizo bastante ligero. Le doy 4 estrellas. No le doy las 5 estrellas porque aunque me gustó mucho no es uno de los mejores libros que he leído. O sea, no fue tan WOW. No exageremos 😁
