"Eleanor had a long-held theory about men. She truly believed that for most men, all that talk of “being in love” or “finding the right one” was absolute nonsense. Marriage was purely a matter of timing, and whenever a man was finally done sowing his wild oats and ready to settle down, whichever girl happened to be there at the time would be the right one."
-Crazy Rich Asian book 1
Hey there, fellow bookworm! I finally finished the Cray Rich Asian Trilogy by Kevin Kwan. Thanks to the shortage of wifi, I got hooked up to reading these book.
This coming of age novel is a true to life story for most asians, especially Chinese. As a woman whose now nearing her marrying age, I sense that this quote is almost always true. Sometimes, it's not about being in the wrong relationship but whether or not both couples are ready to settle down. This is common for most men.
And did I tell you that one of my officemates commented that I resembled with one of the main characters of the novel- Astrid Leong? My officemate may or may not be joking, but I will forever remember this complement. Astrid is my favorite character because she is independent and towards the end of the novel, she finally realized her worth.
Synopsis
When his Singaporean relatives knew that Nick Young is coming back to their home town bringing his American Born Chinese girlfriend, everyone was intrigue. Nick is one of the most eligible bachelor in Singapore and the heir of a famous clan. The story revolved around the hurdles of Rachel Chu, Nick's girlfriend, in the eyes of his family and relatives. As asians, we value our families and ancestors so where you come from would really matter.
I can't wait to finish China Rich Girlfriend and Rich People Problems to complete the Trilogy. Not to mention, I also watch the movie adaptation of this novel and I love it.
That it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
With love, Jane
