Recently, I got back to reading books, and it has been a journey because since I started, I have barely come across books that interests me.
Though that hasn’t stopped me from trying to read more, it has been a bit difficult to start and finish a book.
Anyways, a few days ago, I went over to visit my sister and I came across a book in her library, and even though I haven’t been reading self help books due to a lot of reasons, I decided to read this one and see if it was any different so, without further ado, let’s get to reviewing it.
PREVIEW
Book title: Attitude is everything
Author: Keith Harrell
Year of production: 2003
Genre: Self-help
FIRST LOOK
Looking at this book didn’t do anything for me, the cover was very plain and it wasn’t something that I hadn’t seen before.
The only plus I will give to it is that the title is bodily written and even a 5 year old would note that it is a book about working on your attitude which I guess sells the book for what it is, other than that, I don’t think I will pick this book up if placed with others.
PREMISE
Keith Harrell who is the author focuses on the premise that attitude is everything, his message is very direct yet simplified; he believes that our attitude whether good or bad has a way of affecting our success.
In the book, he goes further to teach us techniques that will improve our attitudes which would boost us in life and also gives us 10 life-changing steps to turning attitude into action.
MY THOUGHTS
If this was the first self-help book I had read, I would have had a better review for it but, I have read quite a number to a point where I barely read them so, it wasn’t anything special.
No doubt, Keith is an amazing author but, most of the things he said are common sense or has been said over again and I don’t want to read the same book by a different author.
Now I am not saying there weren’t gems in this book but, I was bored most of the times and my life didn’t change much like the title promised so, it felt like a waste of my time.
RATINGS
Even though the book wasn’t anything earth shattering, it was still a good book and if you are someone into self-help books, you will surely love it.
There were some amazing tips and stories in it and I guess that is a plus, so I’ll give it a 5.5 and this rating is simply because the book has been done over and over.
I feel like if this is your first self-help book, you might have a higher rating and enjoy it more.
IN CONCLUSION
Like I said, I stopped reading self-help books and this is one of the reasons; there is nothing life changing about most but regardless, it was still a good book that I would recommend to maybe teenagers and new readers.
At this point, I don’t know if I will read another self-help book again but, if you have any good ones that you feel might change my mind, then you can comment them.
