Hello Hello Community! ✨, after taking a few days to process and digest the story of the books previously reviewed, it was time to move on with my life and get into a new story, to meet new characters and obviously to get excited about a new romance, that's how, moving away from fantasy briefly, I resorted to a lighter book, where he is the one who has been in love with her for years, and at the time she was the popular one between the two of them, a shy boy who is not very good with words, and a girl who has already travelled many places in the world and now only wants a family, although she does not dare to admit it out loud, that's how today in this post we will talk about In a Jam.

Shay Zucconi has just lived the worst moment of her life, or at least one of the worst, because just a couple of minutes before her wedding, her fiancé has decided to cancel the marriage by phone call, without explanation, without showing his face and also leaving her the hard work of being the one who has to announce it to the guests, this has left Shay in a kind of limbo, in which she only spends her days on the couch of the shared flat of one of her best friends, drinking wine and eating cheese crackers.

However, everything in her life changes when she learns that her step-grandmother, who had died months before, has named her sole heir to her farm in Friendship Rhode Island, although this inheritance has two important clauses, the first is that she must live at least half a year on the farm and the second is that she must be married, if she does not comply with these clauses before the estimated time, the farm and all its lands will pass into the hands of the town. So Shay sets out on a new adventure where only two things are clear to her, and that is that she has no plans and no plans to get married, although many things change when she is reunited with her old best friend Noah Barden, who is now in charge of her family's business, and is also the legal guardian of her niece.

Kate Canterbary presents us with an interesting story in this book, with themes that from a certain perspective are quite hard, and with the incorporation of a child character that in fact is not something that is frequent in the books that I read, and that from the first time that I heard about this story was something that I found curious, And speaking of which, the reality is that this is the second time I have read this book, since approximately at the beginning of the year (in the first trimester), when I was trying a little unsuccessfully to get back into the habit of reading, I came across this story thanks to tik tok.

The premise with which the book was "sold" to me was, broadly speaking, that of a *romantic comedy with a marriage of convenience, which obviously grabbed me, and I'm actually grateful that that was all the information I received, because the truth is that the book goes a bit beyond that. The first time I read it, it certainly grabbed me and by the end I liked it a lot, but as I said, I was trying to get back into it and I overlooked a lot of details in the story that now on a second reading, I realised how important and even profound they were.

It should be noted that the story is narrated from the perspective of both protagonists, which I think nourishes the book much more, and in fact here is an indispensable element, because it not only allows us to visualize the past events that Noah remembers but apparently Shay forgot when he left town, but also allows us to get attached and know the dynamic that he has with his niece, a girl of only 6 years old who has lived through moments so traumatic that they simply squeeze your heart, while also allowing us to see the traumas of Shay, a woman who has been subjected to abandonment since she was a child and who now as an adult, not only finds it difficult to see the shadows that accompany her but is tired of always being the homeless girl with her whole life packed in a suitcase, going from one place to another.

In this book family has a very important value, but it shows us how sometimes family is not about the people who share blood ties with you, and for Shay her family is made up of her friends (who are definitely unconditional) and her step-grandmother Lollie, and you may ask, is she an orphan? And the reality is that no, she simply had to live under the shadow of her mother's job, a war correspondent who spent more time travelling around the world than taking care of her daughter, and who somehow condemned her to abandonment disguised as "work responsibilities", giving rise to her need to be perfect.

I love coming across books where the male protagonist is the shy one in the relationship, because I think we're used to stories where the female protagonist is the withdrawn one who never confesses her love, but here it's the other way around. As teenagers Noah fell in love with Shay, but at the time the only relationship he was able to develop with her was that of best friends who longed to get out of a town that consumed them, something they both achieved, Shay went to Boston and ended up being an educator, and Noah conquered the big apple as a lawyer, only that in the end they both had to return for somewhat different reasons.

Now Noah is in charge of his family's business, after the death of his father, and also has legal custody of his niece Gen because his sister made bad decisions and is now in jail, and to all this is added the return of the love of his life, who wants to hate and keep away from his life but he finds it so difficult that he ends up marrying her 🤣🤣, plus his niece seems to love her madly and Shay seems to feel the same affection for Gennie.

Gennie for me represents an extremely adorable and important character in this story, not only brings fun but innocence, she is definitely the most determined in that house, blunt when it comes to saying things and making it clear to Noah and Shay that she is no fool, that she realizes things 🤣🤣, however she also represents the pain in a story that may seem like one more of the pile, her character reflects the childhood traumas of someone who has had to live hard things in such a short period of life, she represents all those kids who are out of the educational norm and are many times displaced, because she is a character with ADHD (incidentally very well described I must say and highlight), each appearance of Gen was better than the previous one and in short she was the one who took my heart in this book 💖.

¡Hola Hola Comunidad! ✨, después de tomarme unos días para procesar y digerir la historia de los libros anteriormente reseñados, llegó el momento de continuar con mi vida y adentrarme a una nueva historia, a conocer nuevos personajes y obviamente a ilusionarme con un nuevo romance, es así como alejándome brevemente de la fantasía, recurri a un libro más ligero, donde él es quien lleva años enamorado de ella, y en su momento fue ella la popular entre ellos dos, un chico tímido que no se le dan muy bien la palabras, y una chica que ya recorrió muchos lugares del mundo y ahora solo quiere una familia, aunque no se atreva a admitirlo en voz alta, es asi como hoy en este post hablaremos de Dulce como Tú.

Shay Zucconi acaba de vivir el peor momento de toda su vida, o al menos uno de los peores, pues a tan solo un par de minutos de su boda, su prometido ha decidido cancelar el matrimonio por llamada telefónica, sin explicaciones, sin dar la cara y además dejándole el duro trabajo de ser quien tenga que anunciarlo a los invitados, esto ha dejado a Shay en una especie de limbo, en el cual solo se ocupa de pasar sus días en el sofá del departamento compartido de una de sus mejores amigas, tomando vino y comiendo galletas de queso.

Sin embargo, todo en su vida cambia cuando se entera que su abuelastra, quien había muerto meses atrás, la ha nombrado única heredera de su granja en Friendship Rhode Island, aunque esta herencia tiene dos cláusulas importantes, la primera es que debe vivir al menos medio año en la granja y la segunda es que debe estar casada, de no cumplir dichas cláusulas antes del tiempo estimado, la granja y todas sus tierras pasarán a manos del pueblo. Así es como Shay se emprende en una nueva aventura en donde solo tiene dos cosas claras, y es que no tiene ningún plan y no piensa casarse, aunque muchas cosas cambian cuando se reencuentra con su viejo mejor amigo Noah Barden, quien ahora se ocupa del negocio de su familia, y además es el tutor legal de su sobrina.

Kate Canterbary nos plantea una interesante historia en este libro, con temas que desde cierta perspectiva son bastante duros, y con la incorporación de un personaje infantil que de hecho no es algo que sea frecuente en los libros que yo leo, y que desde la primera vez que supe de esta historia fue algo que me resultó curioso, y es que hablando de esto la realidad es que ésta es la segunda vez que leo este libro, pues aproximadamente a inicios de año (dentro del primer trimestre), cuando estaba intentando un poco sin éxito retomar mi hábito de lectura, me encontré con esta historia gracias a tik tok.

La premisa con la que me “vendieron” el libro fue, en líneas generales, la de una *comedia romántica con un matrimonio por conveniencia, lo cual obviamente me atrapo, y en realidad agradezco que esa haya sido toda la información que haya recibido, porque la verdad es que el libro va un poco más allá. La primera vez que lo leí ciertamente me atrapó y al final me gusto bastante, pero como ya dije, yo estaba intentando retomar la lectura y la verdad pase por alto muchos detalles de la historia que ahora en su segunda leída, me di cuenta de lo importante e incluso profundas que eran.

Cabe destacar, que la historia está narrada desde la perspectiva de ambos protagonistas, lo cual ya deben saber que a mí me parece que eso nutre mucho más el libro, y de hecho aquí es un elemento indispensable, pues no solo nos permite visualizar los hechos pasados que Noah recuerda pero que aparentemente Shay olvidó al momento de irse del pueblo, sino que también nos permite encariñarnos y conocer la dinámica que éste tiene con su sobrina, una niña de apenas 6 años que le ha tocado vivir momentos tan traumáticos que simplemente te estrujan el corazón, mientras que también nos deja ver los traumas de Shay, una mujer que ha sido sometida al abandono desde que estaba pequeña y que ahora de adulta, no solo le cuesta ver las sombras que la acompañan sino que está cansada de ser siempre la niña sin hogar con toda su vida metida en una maleta, que va de un lado a otro.

En este libro la familia tiene un valor importantísimo, pero nos demuestra cómo a veces la familia no se trata de las persona que comparten lazos sanguíneos contigo, y es que para Shay su familia está compuesta por su amigas (que definitivamente son incondicionales) y su abuelastra Lollie, y ustedes se preguntaran ¿acaso es huérfana? y la realidad es que no, simplemente le tocó vivir bajo la sombra del trabajo de su mamá, una corresponsal de guerra que pasaba más tiempo viajando por el mundo que ocupándose de su hija, y que de alguna forma la condenó al abandono disfrazado de ”responsabilidades laborales”, originando en ella la necesidad de ser perfecta.

Me encanta encontrarme con libros donde el protagonista masculino es el tímido de la relación, porque creo que ya estamos acostumbrados a historias donde es la protagonista femenina la retraída que nunca confiesa su amor, pero aquí eso es al revés. De adolescentes Noah se enamoró de Shay, pero en su momento la única relación que pudo desarrollar con ella fue la de mejores amigos que anhelaban salir de un pueblo que los consumía, cosa que ambos lograron, Shay se fue a Boston y terminó siendo educadora, y Noah conquistó la gran manzana como abogado, solo que al final a ambos les tocó regresar por razones un tanto diferentes.

Ahora Noah está a cargo del negocio de su familia, tras la muerte de su padre, y además tiene la custodia legal de su sobrina Gen debido a que su hermana tomó malísimas decisiones y ahora se encuentra en la cárcel, y a todo esto se le suma el regreso del amor de su vida, a quien quiere odiar y alejar de su vida pero le resulta tan difícil que se termina casando con ella 🤣🤣, además su sobrina parece amarla con locura y Shay parece sentir el mismo cariño por Gennie.

Gennie para mi representa un personaje sumamente adorable e importante en esta historia, no solo aporta la diversión sino la inocencia, es en definitiva la más decidida en esa casa, sin rodeos a la hora de decir las cosas y de dejarle claro a Noah y Shay que ella no es ninguna tonta, que ella se da cuenta de las cosas 🤣🤣, sin embargo también representa el dolor en una historia que puede parecer una más del montón, su personaje refleja los traumas infantiles de alguien que le ha tocado vivir cosas duras en un periodo de vida tan corto, representa a todos esos niños que se salen de la norma educativa y son muchas veces desplazados, pues es un personaje con TDHA (de paso muy bien descrito debo decir y destacar), cada aparición de Gen era mejor que la anterior y en resumen fue quien se llevó mi corazón en este libro 💖.
