A classic book and a must read. This is a motivational book that is simple to read yet has a very deep meaning. This book is written by Spencer Johnson. Who moved my cheese is a motivational book that can be read and finished within an hour.
Life is always changing and the circumstances around it too. We have to change or else we would be left behind. This is the whole thesis of this book. Cheese in this book refers to the goals in life that we would pursue; monetary or not. This book can be re read each time we feel angry and frustrated at the always changing world.
WHO MOVED MY CHEESE
This book tells the tale of four individuals; Hem, Haw, Sniff and Scurry
Hem and Haw are little people the size of mice representing modern humans. Sniff and Scurry are just animals that follow their instinct.
Each day, Sniff and Scurry has to go out to gather cheese to bring back to the starting point which is their home. Hem and Haw do that as well. Sniff and Scurry just do what their instincts tell them. Find the cheese.
Little people Hem and Haw, do the same thing but they have a bit of analysis. This goes on for a while until one day the cheese at that particular station disappears. Gradually reducing in quantity and finally gone. Sniff and Scurry realises this and goes on finding new places with cheese.
Hem and Haw feels frustrated but doesn't go to find a new place where cheese could be located due to the fear of wondering too far. They are too comfortable in their comfort zone. One day, Haw decides that it's time for him to wonder out into the other parts of the maze to find cheese. Cheese here is just a metaphor.
This is a good read. It is simple yet has a big impact on our lives. Sometimes, we feel frustrated at circumstances blaming our environment but yet, it is us who have never left our comfort zone to try new things to see if it works.
