Por si acaso, Andrzej Sapkowski es un maestro de la fantasía. Su prosa envolvente y estilo narrativo único nos transportan a un universo donde los monstruos, la política y la moralidad se entrelazan de manera fascinante.
Recuerdo cuando mi hermano, que ahora vive en España, me envió este libro como regalo. Aunque ya lo había leído en formato digital, nada se compara a sostenerlo en mis manos y sumergirme en sus páginas físicas. La conexión con la historia y los personajes se intensificó, y cada palabra cobró vida. Y el libro es de tapa dura, con un olor agradable y una tipografía buena. El diseño de la cubierta muestra a quien supongo debe ser Yenefer por la milana negra en su brazo (supongo que es una milana). La tonalidad azul queda perfecta y muy destacable. La contracubierta sí es normal.
¿Que hay en el libro? En "La espada del destino", seguimos las peripecias de Geralt de Rivia, un brujo cazador de monstruos. Desde enfrentarse a bestias carroñeras hasta participar en la cacería de dragones, Geralt se ve atrapado en conflictos de supervivencia, codicia y amor. Magos, príncipes, criaturas míticas y druidas pueblan este mundo, y Geralt avanza solitario entre ellos.
Me gustó como Sapkowski crea personajes complejos y memorables. Regresa Jaskier con sus opiniones mordaces y elocuentes. Los enanos con su malos modales y su rudeza. Yenefer, mi personaje femenino favorito de la historia, con su personalidad fuerte, independiente y muy astuta. Sin duda, el libro ronda alrededor de la relación entre Yenefer y Geralt, desde sus altibajos hasta destacar la importancia de Ciri en sus vidas. Y es que los cuentos se conectan de manera ingeniosa, formando un todo coherente. Y Las decisiones de Geralt no son siempre claras, lo que añade profundidad, lo hace sentir real, y así con el resto de los personajes. Cuando lo leo siento una naturalidad en el lenguaje y el ritmo, siento una fluidez muy auténtica. Esta es una de las cosas que más me gusta del libro.
Ahora, Algunos pueden encontrar la estructura de cuentos un poco desconcertante. Y La prosa detallada puede ralentizar el ritmo para algunos lectores. Además, hay algunos términos arcaicos que desconocía como por ejemplo jubón o caftán. No es para mí algo tan negativo pero tal vez a alguien podría parecerle un poco agobiante el tener que recurrir a una búsqueda para saber de qué cosa se habla.
En conclusión, "La espada del destino" es una obra maestra que combina fantasía, acción y profundidad emocional. Si te gustan las historias de brujos, monstruos y mundos mágicos, este libro te atrapará desde la primera página.

I remember when my brother, who now lives in Spain, sent me this book as a gift. Although I had already read it in digital format, nothing compares to holding it in my hands and immersing myself in its physical pages. The connection to the story and characters intensified, and each word came to life. And the book is hardcover, with a pleasant smell and good typography. The cover art shows who I assume must be Yenefer because of the black kite on her arm (I assume it's a kite). The blue tone is perfect and very notable. The back cover is normal.
What's in the book? In "The Sword of Destiny", we follow the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a monster-hunting witch. From facing off against scavenging beasts to participating in dragon hunts, Geralt finds himself caught up in conflicts of survival, greed, and love. Wizards, princes, mythical creatures and druids populate this world, and Geralt walks alone among them.
I liked how Sapkowski creates complex and memorable characters. Jaskier returns with his trenchant and eloquent opinions. The dwarves with their bad manners and rudeness. Yenefer, my favorite female character in the story, with her strong, independent and very cunning personality. Without a doubt, the book revolves around the relationship between Yenefer and Geralt, and its ups and downs until highlighting the importance of Ciri in their lives. And the stories are connected in an ingenious way, forming a coherent whole. And Geralt's decisions are not always clear, which adds depth, makes him feel real, and so with the rest of the characters. When I read it I feel a naturalness in the language and rhythm, I feel a very authentic fluidity. That's one of the things I like most about the book.
Now, some may find the story structure a little disconcerting. And the detailed prose may slow down the pace for some readers. In addition, there are some archaic terms that I did not know, such as doublet. It's not such a negative thing for me, but perhaps someone might find it a bit overwhelming to have to resort to a search to find out what they're talking about.
