Hello friends, welcome to my blog, today I bring you a book “Fried Green Tomatoes in the Whistle Stop Cafe”, which I read many years ago and then had the opportunity to see the film adaptation that featured a cast of leading actresses as Kathy Bates, Jessica Tandy, Mary Stuart Materson and Mary-Louise Parker. This film was a great success when it was released in theaters and one of the things that I liked is that I almost completely respect the story of the book. This novel was written by Patricia Neal, whose pen name is Fannie Flagg, and was published in 1987.

Está cinta tuvo un gran éxito cuando se estreno en las salas de cine y una de las cosas que me gusto es que respeto en casi por completo la historia del libro. Esta novela fue escrita por Patricia Neal, cuyo seudónimo como escritora es Fannie Flagg, el cual fue publicado en 1987.
The Book is about the story of friendship and love between two women, Ruth and Idgie, during the time of the Great Depression and the friendship that is born between Evelyn, a woman who is a middle-aged housewife, and Nini, an old woman who is in a nursing home in the 80's. The book is set in 2 different times, when Nini tells Evelyn the story of these brave women who lived in a time (the 30's), where women were just an ornament and the machismo, racism of the time marked the pattern of society.
El Libro trata sobre la historia de amistad y amor entre dos mujeres, Ruth e Idgie, durante la época de la Gran Depresión y la amistad que nace entre Evelyn, una mujer que es ama de casa de mediana edad y Nini, una anciana que está en una casa de ancianos en los años 80´s. El libro es fácil de leer y esta narrado como cosa curiosa en partes, primero en primera persona, luego Nini contando la amistad de Idgie y en tercera persona con el “Semanario de Dot Weels”, un pequeño diario que nos relata cómo era la vida de los habitantes del pueblo en la peor crisis económica del país. El pueblo de Whistle Stop, quedaba próximo a Birmingham, capital de Alabama. Allí nos adentraremos en la vida de sus habitantes desde la primera guerra mundial en los años veinte hasta el comienzo de la relación de estas dos mujeres Idgie y Ruth, quienes abrieron el único café del pueblo y que se convirtió en el corazón de ese pueblo en donde todos acudían.

I loved this book because of the message that it leaves you, that despite the circumstances or time we can always change and fight for what we believe and want despite everything. It highlights the value of friendship, loyalty and love in all its forms, it also shows us the racism of the time and the way to avoid it by those who did not agree with it, apparently respecting the social norms of southern life. In short, this novel gives us a glimpse of a troubled time, but intelligently without hurting feelings. If you haven't read this wonderful novel yet, I invite you to do so.
Este libro me encanto por el mensaje que te deja, que a pesar de las circunstancias o el tiempo siempre podemos cambiar y luchar por lo que creemos y queremos a pesar de todo. Resalta el valor de la amistad, lealtad y amor en todas sus formas, también nos muestra el racismo de la época y la forma de evadirlo por aquellos que no estaban de acuerdo en ello, respetando en apariencias las normas sociales de la vida sureña.
