Since I started college I have almost no time to read, apart from that, reading pdfs exhausts my eyesight very fast, so I have given myself a break from reading and instead I have moved to the hobby of watching series or anime (although I still like reading more).
That's why, when I found out through social networks that Filven would be held this month, I saw it as a great opportunity to get books at a good price and get back into the habit of reading.
The Filven (International Book Fair of Venezuela), is an event held every year in every region of the country in order to promote reading in people of all ages. I do not remember if in the last two years this event was held, because the issue of covid was still latent and the contagion rates were very high, but I am glad that this year they decided to do it. It lasted 3 days, from May 26 to 29 and took place in La Asuncion, capital of the region where I live.
Visiting bookstores or this kind of fairs has always made me feel in a paradise, it makes me want to take most of the books that are on the tables, my mom knows that I am capable of it, so she accompanies me and controls me not to leave all my savings there.
The place where this event was, was outdoors, of course big awnings protected the vendors and books from the weather, it's a relief that it didn't rain during these days.
I live really close to the area, so I had the opportunity to go two days in a row to the fair, the most crowded day was the 26th (although I expected to see even more movement of people). The atmosphere was lively with music, some dance performances by children's dance schools and there were also food vendors around.
Walking around the place, I noticed that some vendors had sections of second hand books that you could buy for 1 or 2$, like at this table you see here. Although they are second hand books, they are very well preserved and there is a wide variety of genres.
There were also books at $5, others at $10 and I think the highest I saw the price was $25 for books such as atlases, encyclopedias or books with special editions. For every table I passed my eyes lit up more and more...I think I may have even completed my Harry Potter book saga.
There was so much to choose from: from self-help books and spiritualism to...
Some classics like Oliver Twist, Gulliver's Travels, Perfume and Pride and Prejudice (and I'm sure I saw some Jules Verne books around).
These space and human history books that reminded me of the fascination with astronomy I had as a child.
There were many books of young romance and fantasy stories that I have on my "to read" list and I found them here! but buying them all would put a big hole in my pocket.
I remember that I started to get a taste for crime novels thanks to Agatha Christie, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity to buy more of her books, and also some other suspense and mystery books that I found interesting.
One very cool thing is that there was a person exchanging books, so I quickly went home and looked for some books that neither my mom nor I liked and exchanged them for some Paulo Coelho books that she liked, and more crime and science fiction stories that caught my attention.
And that's how full my bag was when I got back home, I'm very happy I was able to go and I'm also excited to start reading, I'll try to read them slowly and one at a time, maybe you'll see me around here very soon with new reviews.

Desde que empecé la universidad casi no tengo tiempo de leer, y a parte de eso, leer en pdf me agota la vista muy rápido, así que me he dado un descanso de la lectura y en cambio me he mudado al pasatiempo de ver series o anime (aunque me sigue gustando más leer).
Por eso, cuando me enteré por redes sociales que este mes se celebraría la Filven, lo vi como una gran oportunidad de conseguir libros a buen precio y retomar el hábito de leer.
La Filven (Feria Internacional del Libro de Venezuela), es un evento se realiza cada año en cada región del país con el fin de promover la lectura en personas de todas las edades. No recuerdo si en los últimos dos años se realizó este evento, pues el tema del covid aún era latente y las tasas de contagio eran muy altas, pero me alegra que este año hayan decidido realizarlo. Tuvo una duración de 3 días, desde el 26 al 29 de mayo y tuvo lugar en La Asunción, capital de la región donde vivo.
Visitar librerías o este tipo de ferias siempre me ha hecho sentir en un paraíso, me dan ganas de llevarme la gran mayoría de libros que hay sobre las mesas, mi mamá sabe que soy capaz de ello, por eso me acompaña y me controla para no dejar todos mis ahorros ahí.
El lugar donde estuvo este evento, fue al aire libre, por supuesto que grandes toldos protegían del clima a los vendedores y a los libros, es un alivio que no lloviera durante estos días.
Yo vivo realmente cerca de la zona, así que tuve la oportunidad de ir dos días seguidos a la feria, el día que hubo más gente fue el 26 (aunque esperaba ver todavía más movimiento de gente). El ambiente se encontraba animado con música, algunas presentaciones de bailes de escuelas de danza infantil y también hubieron vendedores de comida en los alrededores.
Recorriendo el lugar, me fijé en que algunos vendedores tenían secciones de libros de segunda mano que podías comprar por 1 o 2$, como en esta mesa que ven aquí. Aunque son libros de segunda mano, están muy bien conservados y hay una gran variedad de géneros.
También habían libros en 5$, otros en 10$ y creo que el máximo que vi de precio era de 25$ en libros como atlas, enciclopedias o libros con ediciones especiales. Por cada mesa que pasaba mis ojos se iluminaban más y más... creo que incluso pude haber completado mi saga de libros de Harry Potter.
Había tanto por donde escoger: desde libros de autoayuda y espiritualismo...
Algunos clásicos como Oliver Twist, Los viajes de Gulliver, El Perfume y Orgullo y Prejuicio (y estoy segura de haber visto algunos libros de Julio Verne por ahí).
Estos libros del espacio e historia de la humanidad que me hicieron recordar la fascinación por la astronomía que tenía cuando era niña.
Habían muchos libros de romance juvenil e historias de fantasía que precisamente tengo en mi lista "por leer" ¡y los encontré aquí! pero comprarlos todos haría un hoyo muy grande en mi bolsillo.
Recuerdo que empecé a adquirir gusto por las novelas de crímenes gracias a Agatha Christie, así que no pude dejar pasar la oportunidad de comprar más libros de ella, y también algunos otros de suspenso y misterio que me parecieron interesantes.
Una cosa muy genial es que había una persona intercambiando libros, así que fui rápidamente a mi casa y busqué algunos libros que ni a mi mamá ni a mí nos gustaban y los cambiamos por algunos de Paulo Coelho que a ella le gustaron, y más cuentos policiacos y de ciencia ficción que llamaron mi atención.
Y así de llena estaba mi bolsa cuando regresé a mi casa, me siento muy feliz de haber podido ir y también estoy emocionada por empezar a leer, trataré de leerlos con calma y uno por vez, quizá me verán por aquí muy pronto con nuevas reseñas.
