Hello to all book lovers! 📚
Now my sons read this book in Ukrainian: "I wonder why".
This book is translated from the original in English by the publisher Kingfisher Publications Pls an imprint Macmillam Children's Books.
This book was published in Ukraine in 2016.
The book has 496 pages.
This is an encyclopedia in which a child can find many answers to questions: about the mysteries of nature and ancient civilizations, about historical events and celebrities, about flora and fauna, about the place of man in the universe and on Earth.
There are the following sections in this book:
- Why do the stars twinkle?
- Why does the sun rise and set?
- Why is the wind blowing?
- Why did the Egyptians build pyramids?
- Why did the ancient Greeks build temples?
- Why is my stomach growling?
- Why a camel hump?
- Why trees leaves?
- Why is the phone ringing?
- Why does a person breathe?
- What is in the egg? and other.
These are just some of the facts that a child can learn from this book. In my opinion, it is for younger children (somewhere preschool and primary school age), but my children still love to look through such books, despite the fact that they have known many things for a long time.
For example, here's how to answer the question "What's in an egg?" in the book:
Inside the bird's egg is the yolk with the nucleus from which the embryo will be formed, and the jelly-like protein. From them the chick, developing, receives nutrients. And the protein also protects the embryo from accidental blows.
Here is what the pages of the encyclopedia look like in the cover:
Reversal on "What is the Universe?"
Reversal with the topic "How to measure the fraction of a second?", "How to measure the speed of the rope?"
A cover with the topic "What do speleologists do?", "What is the first rule of speleology?"
A cover with the topic "Why were books chained?", "Why was it difficult to determine the time?"
And here's another interesting fact: "Why are teddy bears called Teddy?"
The book answers:
Teddy bears are named Teddy after US President Theodore Roosevelt, abbreviated Teddy. Once on a hunt he met a little bear and did not kill him. After reading about it in the newspaper, one candy dealer decided to start making teddy bears, which he named Teddy.
I don't know if it's true or not, but children like such stories)
A cover with the topic "What is in an egg?", "Who hatches from eggs?"
Reversal with the topic "How far will I go in an hour?"
Reversal with the topic "Where do the letters come from?", "How much is the letter?"
At the end of the book there is an alphabetical index, which is also easy to navigate, for example, to find which pages told about Zeus.
In my opinion, this book is a very great guide for curious children. Of course, there are many facts in it that we do not use in everyday life. But if a child reads about, for example, a tornado in a book, he will enrich his knowledge and know what a natural phenomenon it is. And so with many other facts: a child's development will take place by filling the mind with information. And interesting, bright illustrations will make reading even more enjoyable.
Thank you all for your attention, good books to all!
