It's been a month or two?🥹
Okay so, there's this book I read about two months ago before I dissapeared,The Cruel Prince.
The Cruel Prince is a fantasy book written by Holly Black. It was originally published 2nd January 2018. The cover is intriguing to say the least, it's pretty if you've read the book!:)
PLOT:
The book revolves around the life of a 17 year-old mortal girl, Jude Duarte,who finds herself in Elfame, a faerie world. (Did I forget to mention the genre of this book? It's fantasy fiction)
She and her sisters (Taryn and Vivienne) were taken away from the human world to come live in Elfame by Madoc after murdering their parents.
I would definitely love to give more insights about what really happened here but that'll serve as a spoiler and we don't want that:)
Being the only two humans, different and weak,the people of Elfame looked down on them. Jude is determined to become something or someone to look up to. Trained by Madoc,she wishes to become a Knight that fights according to the King's command.
And then we have, Cardan Greenbriar, Son of the king and an itch in Jude's hair. Cardan aims to make the length of Jude's human life miserable in Faerie world. Jude isn't having it though. Irrespective of him being stronger than her in every way possible,she tends to outsmart him in a lot of things; like the king's crown.(Spoilers! My bad)
"You remind me that I am a mere mortal and you are a prince of Faerie. Well,let me remind you, that means you have much to lose and I have nothing ".
SETTING:
I don't think it was specified where exactly an immortal world is but it seemed near the United States.
"If I cannot be better than them,I would become so much worse".
PG 13? I wouldn't tag this book suitable for a thirteen years old due to the inappropriate contents like murder, physical and emotional abuse, graphic violence,alcoholism,suicide,etc.
SPOILER ALERT!
This book gives off Enemies to Lovers kind of vibe.
"Most of all,I hate you because I think of you. Often. It's disgusting and I can't stop".
RATINGS:
The Cruel Prince is by far,one of the best fantasy books I've read and I can't trade it for none. I give it 4.5 stars and an 8 out of 10.
Did I forget to mention? Yes I did.
The Cruel Prince is part of a series known as The Folk and Air Trilogy. This series contain five books which include two novellas and the rest three,main books. The Cruel Prince; The Lost Sisters ;The Wicked King; The Queen of nothing (Hell nah, this series definitely peaked around here) and How the king of Elfame learned to hate Stories(This one is definitely a novella)
Anyways, The Cruel Prince is definitely worth taking a look at. An absolute masterpiece!
