For years, I kept scrolling past this. It's a always like this whenever I want to start a new book yeah. I just go to my library and randomly pick a book. Recommendations doesn't really work for me as 80% of the time I end up not feeling the way it was hyped about to me. But this one book, I thought it would give the same vibes Haunting Adeline gave. I have no idea why the hell I decided to judge a book by its cover and mind you, it's a very interesting cover. I guess you could say I wasn't just feeling it then, but that wouldn't be right as I never even opened the book to begin with, talk more of reading it.
What's your best genre? What type of book do you like to read? Romance with a bit of mystery or thriller? Royalty? Harem? I love to read fantasy, if you've noticed; most of the books I genuinely rant my heart about on here are fantasy. I love fantasy romance so much and that was exactly what this one was, to my awe, shock, call it whatever.
How many povs do you prefer to have in a book? I'm sure and hope it's just two, which is one from the female lead and the other from the male lead. And although I love reading from the male lead sometimes to know and blush about how he yearns for her and loves her, I fancy the female leads pov more. And I think that's one thing I loved in the Blood and Ash series. My God, that book was so well written. I need to re-read it. But that's not what we're talking about right now. We want to hear about what new book I've binge read and sacrificed my sleep and education for.
"I have told you a thousand times before that there is no horrible life with you, only without."
The Book of Azrael is part of a book series written by Amber V. Nicole. The name of the series is called Gods and Monsters and currently we have about three books; The Book of Azrael, The Throne of gods and The Dawn of the cursed queen. The book revolves about Dianna Martinez, an Ig'Morruthen that would do anything for her sister, Gabby. Now, what are Ig'Morruthen? They are powerful beings that can shapeshift into any being and have the ability to wield fire. Some would call them dragons. She was changed into this by the one known as Kaden, to save the life of her dying sister. The book 1 begins with a mission that Dianna is on, with two other of Kaden's lackeys. They are to find the book of Azrael. In it, had the key to killing the most powerful being across the realm, Samkiel, the king of gods and the world ender.
Dianna is a stubborn, benevolent and beautiful. One a quest to get something that'd held guide them to finding the book, She mistakenly sends a message to the Hand and also brings back the World Ender to their realm. This is a bad thing for them as Kaden had this sick ideology and they were to just follow, especially Dianna who had no idea what was going on. She followed order to keep her sister save.
The story develops more when she's captured by the Hand, the most dangerous and stealthiest group in the realm and interrogated by the world Ender. The people across the realm feared Ig'Morruthens. They were said to be creatures of the dark, ruthless and evil and could take on gods in a fight. They were indeed born of destruction. Eventually, her roles are reversed again and she's helping the world Ender find Kaden.
What begins as a mission to kill the other becomes something else entirely. A slow-burn alliance forms, riddled with tension, secrets, and a growing connection neither of them can afford. As ancient enemies rise and realms begin to fracture, Dianna and Samkiel must decide what they’re willing to destroy, and who they’re willing to save.
Not all monsters are evil. Not all gods are just. And some books should never be opened.
We get to see vampires, witches, wolves and other supernatural creature you can think about. I loved this book because it wasn't so easy, no scratch that. It wasn't a easy at all. The vivid descriptions given and the dialogues amongst characters were all beautifully written. I admired the character development of both Dianna and Samkiel. Although, some part bored me a bit, all three books kept me on my toes.. I would love to spoil it for you by telling in details what happened but I might drift to the other books and that'll be very cruel of me. And I do not wish to be cruel;)
I genuinely believe you'd love this. Add it to your tbr, write it down somewhere, just make plans to read it. It's definitely worth your whole and it's not part of the trending books on bookstagram or booktok but my suspicion and excellent prediction skills tells me it'll make the headlines soon.
Thanks for reading.
