Qué excelentes libros puedes encontrar de la nada. En una de mis salidas en busca de ofertas pude encontrar este libro, del que no tenía algún antecedente, salvo que en la portada menciona que ganó algún premio. Por otra lado, al darme cuenta que es una colección de cuentos, decidí darle una oportunidad. Publicado en 2013.
What excellent books you can find out of nowhere. On one of my outings in search of bargains, I came across this book, which I knew nothing about except that the cover mentioned it had won an award. On the other hand, when I realized it was a collection of short stories, I decided to give it a try. Published in 2013.
Sinopsis: En esta colección de cuentos. Se nos muestra a diversos miembros de familias, pasando por momentos críticos, en donde ciertos cambios en su vida los hará reflexionar en su futuro, y en cada uno tendrá importancia algún animal o ser vivo.
Synopsis: In this collection of short stories, we are introduced to various family members going through critical moments in their lives, where certain changes will make them reflect on their future, and in each case, an animal or living being will play an important role.

Un símil es una figura retórica que compara dos cosas diferentes de forma explícita. Eso es lo que de alguna manera hace cada cuento de este libro, pues usando como referencia a unos peces, a un fungo y a una gran serpiente, trata de compararlo con las experiencias que están pasando los protagonistas de las historias.
A simile is a figure of speech that explicitly compares two different things. That is what each story in this book does in some way, using fish, a fungus, and a large snake as references to compare them with the experiences of the protagonists of the stories.
Por ejemplo, en el primer cuento “El matrimonio de los peces rojos”, vemos como una pareja sufre un profundo cambio en su vida tras el nacimiento de su primer hijo, haciéndola pasar por un momento de crisis; a su vez, ellos iban criando una pareja de peces Betta, y de alguna manera el cómo iban viviendo esos peces su vida de pareja, igual les pasa a la pareja humana. Este tipo de figura literaria ocurre con el resto de cuentos.
For example, in the first story, “The Marriage of the Goldfish,” we see how a couple undergoes a profound change in their lives after the birth of their first child, causing them to go through a crisis. At the same time, they were raising a pair of Betta fish, and in some way, how those fish lived their lives as a couple was similar to what happened to the human couple. This type of literary device occurs in the rest of the stories.

La idea me parece interesante, mezclado con una buena narración y tocar temas comunes, que muchas personas pasan en su vida, el resultado es bueno. No me costó nada acabar sus cinco cuentos. Lo único malo, es que al ser tan pocos cuentos, se acaba sintiendo corto.
I find the idea interesting. Combined with good storytelling and touching on common themes that many people experience in their lives, the result is good. I had no trouble finishing the five stories. The only downside is that, because there are so few stories, it ends up feeling short.

Dicho lo anterior, que buen hallazgo tuve. Si te interesa la idea que propone el libro, dale una oportunidad. Recomendable.
