El viaje interestelar continua | The interstellar journey continues
Un saludo cordial a todos aventureras y aventureros espero se encuentren de maravilla y muy bien. Hoy volvemos al espacio profundo, a explorar los confines del universo de DUNE. La recepción que tuvo el primer escrito que hice acerca de este increíble mundo fue muy bien recibida y la verdad les estoy increíblemente agradecido de que les haya gustado mi trabajo.
Hoy continuamos introduciéndonos en este increíble universo de ciencia ficción que ha sido de culto y de gran importancia en la cultura popular, como nos quedamos en el primer capítulo seguiremos repasando la historia del mundo de DUNE hasta los acontecimientos ocurridos en la película (que recomiendo encarecidamente). Sin más que decirles comencemos a explorar esta galaxia.

The reception of the first writing I did about this incredible world was very well received and I am incredibly grateful that you liked my work.
Today we continue introducing ourselves in this incredible science fiction universe that has been of cult and great importance in popular culture, as we stayed in the first chapter we will continue reviewing the history of the world of DUNE until the events that occurred in the movie (which I highly recommend). Without further ado, let's start exploring this galaxy.
Recapitulemos algunas millas | Let's recap some miles
Si no has leído mi escrito anterior te recomiendo hacerlo para poder comprender mejor este post que estas a punto de leer, pero te haré un repaso muy breve. En el capítulo anterior hablamos de como los humanos en un futuro muy lejano al este comenzaron a explorar y a conquistar el espacio profundo.
De todas las tecnologías que poseían y que habían creado su mayor obra fue la Inteligencia Artificial, la mecánica y las maquinas las cuales los humanos utilizaron para expandir su dominio, pero estas evolucionaron, decidieron que los humanos ya no eran seres que valieran la pena y los esclavizaron y erradicaron, los humanos se resistieron y en la Batalla de Corrin durante la revolución humana llamada la Yihad Butleriana los humanos vencieron a las máquinas y de allí en adelante el mundo. Se estableció el Imperio Corrino; la cultura y la religión cambiaron y adquirieron nuevos significados.
La tecnología y el pensamiento se volcaron a afinar la capacidad innata del ser humana y su mente para así jamás depender nuevamente de las máquinas, cualquier tipo de inteligencia artificial había quedado prohibida en el universo y es aquí donde comienza este capítulo.
If you have not read my previous writing I recommend you to do so in order to better understand this post you are about to read, but I will give you a very brief review. In the previous chapter we talked about how humans in a future far to the east began to explore and conquer deep space.
Of all the technologies they possessed and had created their greatest work was Artificial Intelligence, mechanics and machines which humans used to expand their domain, but these evolved, they decided that humans were no longer worthwhile beings and enslaved and eradicated them, humans resisted and at the Battle of Corrin during the human revolution called the Butlerian Jihad humans defeated the machines and from then on the world. The Corrin Empire was established; culture and religion changed and took on new meanings.
Technology and thought turned to refine the innate capacity of the human being and his mind to never depend again on machines, any kind of artificial intelligence had been banned in the universe and this is where this chapter begins.
El ser humano es lo más importante | The human being is the most important thing
Como la inteligencia artificial ya no era una opción comenzaron a aparecer corrientes y sociedades cuyo propósito era hacer del ser humano y su capacidades lógicas algo increíble, lo suficiente como para igualar el poder de las maquinas; de esta forma nacen organizaciones como los Mentat, la Bene Gesserit y la Cofradía Espacial. En este apartado te explicaré muy brevemente cada una de ellas y en otros escritos profundizaremos más sobre su historia y perosnajes importantes.
La Bene Gesserit
Bene Gesserit es una escuela muy misteriosa que se dedica al entrenamiento de la mente y las capacidades psíquicas de los humanos, es una escuela semi mística y muy misteriosa, está compuesta únicamente por mujeres, estas tienen un gran control sobre sus capacidades mentales al punto en que incluso su poder les permite influir en la mente de otros seres menos diestros en el arte de la lógica y la psique, algunos incluso las consideran brujas y hechiceras debido a sus grandes capacidades mentales.
Tienen un gran intelecto y se han camelado en los escalones más altos de la política y la religión, el universo entero las ve como matriarcas y portadoras de gran conocimiento y sabiduría. Según esta organización tienen un objetivo el de llevar a la humanidad a un camino de prosperidad.
la Orden Mentat
La Orden Mentat es una escuela exclusiva para los ciudadanos del imperio y tiene como prioridad alcanzar las máximas fronteras de la lógica del pensamiento y la razón. Sus miembros cuentan con habilidades extraordinarias en materias como las matemáticas que van más allá de lo que podamos imaginar, una percepción y cognición del entorno que raya en lo sobrenatural.
Sus miembros entrenan y estudian tanto que llegan a poseer una capacidad de memoria y raciocinio únicas los cuales los convierten en grandes estrategas, consejeros políticos o económicos, de hecho algunas de las grandes casas contratan los servicios de estas personas para este tipo de tareas, llegando a tener gran renombre entre las altas esferas de poder.
La Cofradía Espacial
La organización más misteriosa y en mi opinión una de las más importantes de toda la saga, este selecto gremio de nautas y viajeros tienen el absoluto dominio y monopolio de los viajes interestelares, en ausencia de las máquinas y de la IA los viajes interestelares se han vuelto muy complicados y poco seguros, no cualquiera puede hacerlo.
Sin embargo, la cofradía espacial tiene el dominio y la capacidad de llevar a cabo esta titánica y compleja tarea ¿Cómo lo logran? ¿Cómo sus pilotos pueden viajar por el espacio sin ayuda de una computadora? Los navegantes de la cofradía consumen una sustancia conocida como La Especia o Melange.
la Melange no es una sustancia fácil de conseguir y otorga a quien la consume un poder y capacidades mentales más allá de lo posible, los navegantes de la Cofradía son capaces de ver a través del tiempo y el espacio en busca de las rutas estelares más seguras para sus enormes cruceros galácticos, tan importantes son que el computo del tiempo cambió con su aparición y la historia se dividió en los años Antes de la Cofradía y los años Después de la Cofradía.
As artificial intelligence was no longer an option, currents and societies began to appear whose purpose was to make the human being and his logical capabilities something incredible, enough to match the power of the machines; in this way, organizations such as the Mentat, the Bene Gesserit and the Space Brotherhood were born. In this section I will explain very briefly each one of them and in other writings we will go deeper into their history and important characters.
La Bene Gesserit
Bene Gesserit is a very mysterious school that is dedicated to the training of the mind and psychic abilities of humans, is a semi mystical and very mysterious school, is composed only by women, these have a great control over their mental abilities to the point that even their power allows them to influence the minds of other beings less skilled in the art of logic and psyche, some even consider them witches and sorceresses because of their great mental abilities.
They have a great intellect and they have been cameled in the highest echelons of politics and religion, the entire universe sees them as matriarchs and bearers of great knowledge and wisdom. According to this organization they have a goal to lead humanity to a path of prosperity.
the Mentat Order
The Mentat Order is a school exclusively for the citizens of the empire and its priority is to reach the highest frontiers of logical thinking and reason. Its members have extraordinary abilities in subjects such as mathematics that go beyond what we can imagine, a perception and cognition of the environment that borders on the supernatural.
Its members train and study so much that they come to possess a unique capacity of memory and reasoning which make them great strategists, political or economic advisors, in fact some of the great houses hire the services of these people for such tasks, becoming renowned among the upper echelons of power.
The Space Brotherhood
The most mysterious organization and in my opinion one of the most important of the entire saga, this select guild of nauts and travelers have the absolute domain and monopoly of interstellar travel, in the absence of machines and AI interstellar travel has become very complicated and unsafe, not anyone can do it.
However, the Space Guild has the mastery and ability to accomplish this titanic and complex task. How do they do it? How can their pilots travel through space without the aid of a computer? The navigators of the Guild consume a substance known as the Spice or Melange.
The Melange is not an easy substance to obtain and gives to those who consume it a power and mental capacities beyond the possible, the navigators of the Guild are able to see through time and space in search of the safest stellar routes for their enormous galactic cruises, so important are they that the computation of time changed with their appearance and history was divided into the years Before the Guild and the years After the Guild.
El imperio y la política del universo | The empire and the politics of the universe
Por otro lado está el ente que “gobierna” la galaxia; el Imperio Corrino quien para el momento de los acontecimientos que ocurren en la película de DUNE es liderado por Shaddam IV miembro principal de la casa Corrino de la dinastía Padishah, el octogésimo primer emperador en la línea histórica.
Si bien el imperio es la cabeza principal de la política del universo conocido, no comparte el poder solo, junto a él está la Bene Gesserit y el Landsraad como entes cogobernantes.
¿Qué es el Landsraad? Básicamente son un organismo gubernamental que reúnen a las casas menores, las grandes casas y la casa imperial en una gran asamblea, son algo así como un consejo de gobierno donde se discuten las relaciones de comercio, los puestos y encargos de las casas y su papel en el imperio y donde se toman decisiones relevantes para la estabilidad del imperio y las casas que lo apoyan.
Este tipo de forma de gobernar dota al universo de DUNE de una gran intriga política pues en el Landsraad cada casa y organización persigue sus propios intereses particulares.
On the other side is the entity that "rules" the galaxy; the Corrino Empire who by the time of the events that occur in the DUNE movie is led by Shaddam IV senior member of the Corrino house of the Padishah dynasty, the eighty-first emperor in the historical line.
While the empire is the main political head of the known universe, it does not share power alone, alongside it is the Bene Gesserit and the Landsraad as co-ruling entities.
What is the Landsraad? Basically they are a governmental body that brings together the minor houses, the great houses and the imperial house in a great assembly, they are something like a governing council where they discuss trade relations, the positions and assignments of the houses and their role in the empire and where relevant decisions are made for the stability of the empire and the houses that support it.
This type of governance endows the DUNE universe with a great deal of political intrigue as in the Landsraad each house and organization pursues its own particular interests.
Las tres grandes casas en el universo | The three great houses in the universe
El poder en el universo es de unos pocos y a pesar de que hay una gran cantidad de casas tanto menores como algunas con más poder, el mayor peso recae en estas tres grandes casas, las más grandes de todo el universo.
Por un lado, esta obviamente la casa imperial, la casa Corrino encabezada por el emperador; la más poderosa de todas las casas residen en el planeta Kaitain.
Tenemos también a la casa protagonista de la historia, la casa Atreides encabezada por su líder el Duque Leto Atreides, residen en el planeta Caladan y es la casa a la que pertenece nuestro gran protagonista.
Por ultimo esta la casa Harkonnen, los grandes adversarios de la casa Atreides en la política del imperio, su líder es el Barón Vladimir Harkonnen, un hombre despiadado y calculador, tiene fama de tirano y junto a sus sobrinos será el gran villano de la película. También es el principal proveedor de la Especia, la cual solo se obtiene en el planeta Dune, planeta regentado por esta casa, aunque eso está a punto de cambiar, y este cambio desencadenará una serie de eventos que harán huella en el universo conocido.
The power in the universe is of a few and although there are a lot of houses both minor and some with more power, the greatest weight falls on these three great houses, the largest in the entire universe.
On the one hand, there is obviously the imperial house, the Corrino house headed by the emperor; the most powerful of all the houses residing on the planet Kaitain.
We also have the protagonist house of the story, the house Atreides headed by its leader Duke Leto Atreides, residing on the planet Caladan and is the house to which our great protagonist belongs.
Finally there is the house Harkonnen, the great adversaries of the house Atreides in the politics of the empire, its leader is Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, a ruthless and calculating man, has a reputation as a tyrant and along with his nephews will be the great villain of the film. He is also the main supplier of the Spice, which is only obtained on the planet Dune, a planet ruled by this house, although that is about to change, and this change will trigger a series of events that will make a mark on the known universe.

Por ahora dejamos este escrito hasta aquí, la historia y su contexto van tomando forma poco a poco de manera muy general y vamos conociendo cada vez más todo acerca de este increíble mundo de ciencia ficción. Espero te haya gustado este escrito.
