Hello Everyone! Hope you all are doing great.
In this post, I will be unboxing/unwrapping a book that I have been waiting to read for a very long time now. I finally got my hands on it. I am sure you all have read or heard of it. It's The Shining by Stephen King.
This is actually my first ever Stephen King book so I am really stoked to read it. I have heard so much about his writing style, his ability to create tension and how his books slowly get inside your head.
The package arrived wrapped in a plain grey cover, it was nothing fancy. No branding, no hints about what is inside. So it's just a solid tightly sealed parcel as well as honestly I kinda like that part. It adds to the suspense. You know something good is inside but you do not see it yet.
The package felt firm which showed it was in good condition with no bending or damage. It's a relief when ordering books online. especially so when you pay a price and hope for results.
The second I pulled the book out, the cover grabbed me right away. It’s cold and pretty quiet in a way that weirds you out a little. Snow, loneliness and that distant building in the background without showing too much, it already sets a strong mood.
The font for the title is bold, confident, and, it is impossible to miss Stephen King's name. Like, the book doesn’t bother hiding its presence, it just demands to be noticed.
Holding it, it felt solid but not heavy. For 724 PKR (around 2.59 USD), honestly, it felt like a steal.
The book is in unbelievable condition in this price. It's spine and back are in nearly perfect condition.
Opening the book was kinda satisfying the pages are clean, the text is clear and the font size feels just right, not too small not too big. This matters more than people think. It matters a lot for long reading sessions.
I flipped through some pages to get a feel for it and the paper quality is decent, not too thin which is a plus at such a low price. The purchase felt worth it.
Conclusion
So this unboxing reminded me why physical books still matter because the weight, texture and the smell, they add to the reading experience in a way digital copies just can't.
I have not really started reading it properly yet but from the cover and first impressions I can tell this will not be an easy casual read and it seems like the kind of story that builds slow, sneaks in quietly, and sticks with you even after you close the book.
For now I am happy with this purchase, the book arrived in really good condition, the design looks fine, also getting it for 724 PKR (around 2.59 USD) feels like a total steal.
Well, I guess this is it for this post. Please do give your reviews in the comments section below. I would really appreciate it :)
