Hello Bookworms! Here we continue with what fans of the author have dubbed “La Brandoneta.” This is nothing more than immersing ourselves in the fantasy universe created by Brandon Sanderson, known as the Cosmere. How could I have known four years ago, when I read Elantris, that this would be embarking on a journey of no return? Here I am, devouring one book after another, following reading orders to see which one suits me best, and several books later, I find myself reviewing the first book of Mistborn Era 2: Alloy of Law.

Esto no es más que montarnos en este universo de fantasía creado por Brandon Sanderson nombrado como el Cosmere. ¿Qué iba a saber yo hace 4 años cuando me leí Elantris que esto era inmiscuirnos en viaje sin retorno? Aquí estoy, comiéndome un libro tras otro, siguiendo órdenes de lecturas para ver con cuál me va mejor, y varios libros después, me encuentro reseñándoles el primer libro de la Era 2 de Mistborn: Aleación de Ley.
Three hundred years after the events of the First Era of Mistborn and having met the person with the title of Hero of the Ages, we find ourselves in the city of Elendel. A bustling place, with tall buildings, cars, and electricity. In this Steampunk-inspired world, which blends technology with the Wild West and fantasy, we meet Waxillium Landrian, better known as Wax, a former marshal who used to catch criminals in The Barrens, a hostile terrain where the law was enforced by these marshals. And it is worth noting that these were not just any criminals or any marshals, like the ones we are used to seeing in Western movies. They were allomancers and ferucheycs, special powers associated with metals, which we already learned about (not without some effort) in the first era. If we mix all these elements together, we get a story full of entertainment and, strangely for what Sanderson usually gives us, very easy to read.
Wax is a noble heir who returns to the city to take charge of his legacy, leaving behind his intense past. Everything changes when Mr. Harms requests an audience with his daughter Steris and his niece Marasi to arrange a marriage of convenience. From this point on, problems begin after a series of kidnappings and thefts. Wax, along with his ally Wayne, seek to take justice into their own hands and lead us into this new adventure within the Cosmere.

Trescientos años después de finalizados los sucesos de la Primera Era de Mistborn y de haber conocido a la persona con el título de Héroe de las eras, nos encontramos en la ciudad de Elendel. Un sitio bullicioso, con altos edificios, automóviles y electricidad. En este mundo con una visión Steampunk, que mezcla la tecnología con el lejano oeste y la fantasía, tenemos a Waxillium Landrian, más conocido como Wax, un antiguo alguacil que atrapaba a los criminales en Los Áridos, un terreno hostil donde la Ley la ponían estos alguaciles. Si mezclamos todos estos elementos, tendremos una historia llena de entretenimiento y extrañamente para lo que nos tiene acostumbrados Sanderson, muy sencilla de leer.Wax es un noble heredero qué vuelve a la ciudad para hacerse cargo de su legado, dejando atrás todo su intenso pasado. Todo cambia cuando el Sr. Harms pide una audiencia con su hija Steris y su sobrina, Marasi, para arreglar un matrimonio por conveniencia. Desde este punto, empiezan los problemas luego de una serie de secuestros y algunos robos. Wax, junto a su aliado Wayne, buscan hacer justicia por sus manos y nos llevan a esta nueva aventura dentro del Cosmere.
I really like the Steampunk genre, and if we add fantasy to it, we can imagine a wonderful fantasy world. The great thing about Brandon Sanderson is that he is able to achieve all this and make it seem natural. Before he starts creating characters and pulling anyone out of his sleeve, he creates a fantasy world with strict rules that make the stories quite believable. This is unusual among many new fantasy writers, who resolve everything with the hand of God. In this way, he can write a complete novel regardless of how many installments the saga has, because even though we want to read more, each book has a closed ending, as it should be.
However, as much as I love this author, I felt that this was not what we are used to from him. We are used to a journey full of explanations, a slow path with great experiences. In this book, I felt that the whole story happened in a rush, everything was an overwhelming avalanche, like an action movie that doesn't let us stop to take a break during the story.

A mí me gusta mucho el género Steampunk, y si a esto le añadimos fantasía, podemos imaginar un maravilloso mundo fantástico. Lo genial de Brandon Sanderson es que es capaz de lograr todo esto y que parezca natural, porque antes de empezar a crear personajes y sacarse a cualquiera debajo de la manga, crea un mundo fantástico con unas reglas estrictas que hacen que las historias sea bastante verosímiles. Caso que es poco común en muchas escritoras de fantasía nuevas que todo lo resuelven con la mano de Dios. De esta manera, puede escribir una novela completa sin importar cuantas entregas tenga la saga, porque aunque queremos leer más, cada libro tiene un final cerrado, como debe ser.Sin embargo, por mucho que me encante este autor, sentí que no era algo de lo que nos tiene acostumbrados. Estamos acostumbrados a un viaje lleno de explicaciones, un camino lento con grandes vivencias. En este libro sentí que toda la historia ocurría atropelladamente, todo fue una avalancha avasallante, cuál película de acción que no nos hace detenernos a tomar una pausa durante la historia.
The book is entertaining, and I'm going to read the next ones. Because I understand that things happen that contribute to the Cosmere universe. On the other hand, this wasn't the series that some readers recommended yet, I was hoping to read The Stormlight Archive first and then continue with this one. I didn't intend to read more Sanderson yet, because the books mentioned are very long and have many pages, and I already have an entire series pending to read that deserves my attention first. Fortunately, I found a content creator with a good guide that said I could read either series, and in this case, the order didn't matter. I also noticed that the order I'm following is the one proposed by Brandon Sanderson himself, so everything is working out perfectly.
Perhaps it is not necessary to read in any specific order; in fact, I think you could read this series without any problem, but there are names, places, and events that you will enjoy more if you have already read the first era. For my part, I am happy to have found this writer and to read everything he writes. What's even better is that he keeps writing and completing series that don't leave me waiting (like George Martin and Patrick Rotfuss, for example 🤨), he has a perfect outline and organization, and he surprises us with new books. So this love for Sanderson is long-lasting, and I will continue to share more of his writings here.

El libro es entretenido, y me voy a leer los siguientes. Porque tengo entendido que ocurren cosas que aportan al universo Cosmere. Por otro lado, estos no era la saga que recomendaban algunos lectores aún, esperaba leer Los Archivos de la Tormenta primero y luego continuar con esta. Yo no pretendía leer más de Sanderson aún, porque los libros mencionados son muy grandes y con muchas páginas, y ya tengo una saga entera pendiente por leer que merece mi atención primero. Por fortuna, encontré un creador de contenido, con una buena guía que decía que podía leer cualquiera de las dos sagas, que en este caso, no importaba el orden. También noté que este orden que estoy siguiendo es el propuesto por el mismo Brandon Sanderson, así que todo está saliendo a la perfección.Tal vez no sea necesario leer en algún orden en específico, de hecho, considero que podrías leer esta saga sin ningún problema, pero aparecen nombres, lugares y hecho que van a disfrutar más si ya has leído la primera era. Por mi parte, yo estoy feliz de haber encontrado este escritor, y de leer todo lo que escriba.
