These days the heat in Cúcuta, the city where I live, has been inclement. I couldn't stay indoors, so, taking advantage of the fact that I have a patio where the air flows freely and there are trees, I decided to go out for a while to cool off. I took with me a pot of fresh water and a book I have been wanting to read for a long time: The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. I have heard that he is a great writer and I knew this book since my childhood.

Estos días el calor en Cúcuta, la ciudad donde vivo, ha sido inclemente. No podía estar dentro de casa, así que, aprovechando que tengo un patio donde corre el aire libremente y hay árboles, decidí salir un rato a refrescarme. Me llevé un pote de agua fresca y un libro que deseaba leer desde hace tiempo: El Alquimista, del autor Paulo Coelho. He escuchado que es un gran escritor y conocía este libro desde mi infancia.
I sat down under the cherry tree to start with this work. I immediately realized that, although it was a small book, its letters were also small and it did not have many spaces, so I knew that it would take me longer to read it than the two previous books I brought with me, since those did have more space between lines. However, this pleased me a lot, since I want to increase my reading capacity, read faster and faster and, more than that, better understand the teachings that each book leaves us. I believe that every work has something to teach us, from the most macabre novel to poetry, since everything depends on the eyes with which you look at it.

Me senté debajo del árbol de cerezo para empezar con esta obra. De inmediato me di cuenta de que, a pesar de ser un libro pequeño, sus letras también lo eran y no tenía muchos espacios, por lo que supe que me llevaría más tiempo leerlo que los dos anteriores que traje, pues aquellos sí tenían más espacio entre líneas. Sin embargo, esto me agradó mucho, ya que quiero aumentar mi capacidad lectora, leer cada vez más rápido y, más que eso, comprender mejor las enseñanzas que cada libro nos deja. Creo que toda obra tiene algo que enseñarnos, desde la novela más macabra hasta la poesía, pues todo depende de los ojos con los que se mire.

This book is about a young man full of dreams, whose greatest longing is to travel. Although his father did everything possible for him to study and become someone “important”, he only dreamed of traveling the world. He did not want to be a priest, as his father had predestined for him, so he bravely decided to follow his own path. His father, although hesitant, supported him and gave him enough money to buy a flock of sheep, with which he could roam the valleys of Andalusia, Spain, and its surroundings. It was the nicest way to start his adventure.
However, everything changed when he had a repeated dream in which he saw a treasure hidden in the pyramids of Egypt. Full of curiosity, he went to have the dream read to him, and a gypsy woman confirmed that he should indeed go to Egypt to find it. She did not charge him anything, but only asked him to give her a fifth part when he found the treasure. Thus began a journey into a world full of learning, using magic words and metaphors that reflect life itself.

Este libro trata sobre un joven lleno de sueños, cuyo mayor anhelo es viajar. Aunque su padre hizo todo lo posible para que estudiara y se convirtiera en alguien "importante", él solo soñaba con recorrer el mundo. No quería ser sacerdote, como su padre había predestinado para él, así que, con valentía, decidió seguir su propio camino. Así comenzó una travesía en un mundo lleno de aprendizajes, utilizando palabras mágicas y metáforas que reflejan la vida misma.
My opinion about the book
This book has left me with magical teachings, such as the importance of fighting for our dreams or, as the story defines it, our “Personal Legend”. It shows us that nothing can stop us when we follow our true mission, because the universe conspires to help us, putting everything in our favor to guide us along the way.

Este libro me ha dejado enseñanzas mágicas, como la importancia de luchar por nuestros sueños o, como lo define la historia, nuestra "Leyenda Personal". Nos muestra que nada puede detenernos cuando seguimos nuestra verdadera misión, pues el universo conspira para ayudarnos, poniendo todo a nuestro favor para guiarnos en el camino

También nos enseña a disfrutar el viaje y valorar cada día, a vivir en el presente, y a escuchar nuestro corazón, ya que las corazonadas son esenciales para quienes persiguen sus sueños. A la vez, nos muestra que estamos conectados con todo: la naturaleza, el sol, el viento y con la mano que todo lo crea.
Posiblemente fracasemos mientras perseguimos nuestros sueños, pero esto no debe detenernos, porque el fracaso forma parte del crecimiento. La naturaleza nos enseña muchas cosas si estamos atentos a ella. En nuestro interior podemos encontrar nuestro propio tesoro.
