I lino carved this big bird ( Cold Turkey ) this afternoon, and made this single, first (test) print of it. A test print that I liked so much that I felt like sharing it.
In this image, Cold Turkey is wearing Hypersensitivosaurus' baseball cap, as it's an illustration for a story titled 'Hypersensitivosaurus goes Cold Turkey', where I talk about the friendliest of raptors' attempt to stop eating meat.
You could say that they are merging, in this shot, in a way.
What follows, is an excerpt of that story, that can be found in the upcoming second print of my first book: The Life of Hypersensitivosaurus: 22 Short Stories about Dinos and other animals
Hypersensitivosaurus woke up one morning,
with the intention to stop eating poultry for good…
That day,
for the first time in years,
he didn’t chase any giant chicken,
even though it was the day of the week
when he usually hunted.
Instead,
he had to make do
with fruits and plants.
Quite a challenge for a carnivore,
to say the least.
It made him feel pretty miserable.
The voices in his head
were more negative than usual,
and it seemed almost impossible
to get rid of them.
It was one of those days
where he felt very sorry for himself.
Even the beauty of the nature
surrounding him,
Spring had seriously started,
didn’t seem strong enough
to put a smile on his face.
And here's the original illustration that I used as an example today, which I then drew on lino, with a pencil, carved and printed on white paper.
Not for the first time, I forgot that the image would be mirrored, therefore Cold Turkey is looking the other way.
Believe it or not, I had almost forgotten that I previously ( up till January of this year ) intended to make another book my first official release/ printed work,
namely Hypersensitivosaurus and Cold Turkey.
That book was as good as finished ( I blogged about it many times ) but then I decided otherwise. The timing just didn't feel right.
That's how I roll
;<)
I plan to release that title in the not too distant future, though.
