My Review
One of the ways to make myself feel free is to show my dark side. I want those who are precious to me to know that the dark side is also a part of me.
That is opening sentence from the author before she started her journey about deep depression or dysthymia.
This book is like the diary of a Baek Se Hee. She wrote down how she felt when she felt the emptiness in her heart. When she lives an ordinary life like laughing when she hears jokes from his friends and how she ends up buying his favorite food, tteokpokki, when her feelings are unstable.
tteokpokki is a street food in South Korean based on rice cake with spicy and sweet sauce.
the profil of athor.
This book is told as it is, but not boring. The most part that she wrote down are about her interaction with her psychiatrist. She was initially experiencing dysthymia and decided to consult a psychiatrist.
I felt amazed cause she was wrote down the interactions in great detail. How she asked and how the psychiatrist answered. That's really great.
Although these book is filled by her personal story and seem gloomy, this book not only showed the dark feeling, but found out the cause of the basic through specific situation, and focused to the story which moves towards a healthier life.
These book is really deep. Moreover, I have experienced a brief depression. This book is an additional healing for me to more understand that I am a very valuable creation of God.
Firstly, I have to give big applause to author cause she has not ashamed to went to a psychiatrist and told her that she is depressed. Which is, in fact, how many people with depression even didn't know and didn't realized that they were depressed. Sometimes, when they had realized, they ashamed of themselves so they were kept quiet.
*the visualization of interaction between author and her psychiatrist.
At her first meeting with her psychiatrist, she told about her family background which unconsciously triggered the initial depression at that time. She was born in the poor family who was live in small apartment. Her parent was always quarreled. Her father always beat her mother, and her siblings. They were experienced by domestic violence. Her relationship with her sibling was not good.
It was gloomy experienced, I got goosebumps when I imagined it.
Based on the gloomy background, the author become an introvert who has no friends. When someone loved her, she will keep their relationship very long cause she has no friends.
I've never met a psychiatrist before, but through these book I've knew how the psychiatrist is. In the first met, her psychiatrist just asked about her feeling, anything who was make her mental down. I felt the author told everything confidently.
At the end of the interview session those day, the psychiatrist gave an advice.
You have to make a breakthrough. If you want to get out of the wheel of depression and frustration, then you must dare to take on a challenge, you must dare to do new things that were not thought of by yourself before.
When I read several confession about her, I would be oh, it was me!. There's several things he felt are the same things that I felt in the back then.
I like be alone but I don't like being alone
These kind of feelings is my feeling till now.
I think that the medication notes he's put into this book can help many other dysthymia patients better understand themselves.
I rate 5 from 5 stars and I will be back the second book.

If you want to be happy, you must not be afraid of this fact that I will mention, but must face it and accept it gracefully. I'm talking about the fact that there are always reasons that make us unhappy and unlucky. There is always a reason for the sadness, pain, and fear we feel. We cannot isolate feelings like that in our life.
