How I Adore This Favorite Author All the Time

Among the authors you admire, whose writing style do you find the most captivating, and how does it compare to others?

Hi book lovers, I'm excited about this week's prompt, thanks Hive account@hivebookclub for this awesome prompt.

Nowadays I'm so interested in talking about books. The last day, when the memories about Perahu Kertas were recalled, I bought the novel again because I wanna re-read the novel. I loved to be falling in love again through reading that novel. It's not only about fiction novels but also non-fiction, because I purchased a stoicism book online. There is a self-improvement book and some English Books that I bought from Indonesia International Book Fair. I am glad that I was blessed with books because our love for books could not be something called FOMO. It means, people's FOMO about books is good but literally the love for reading and books is never been sudden. It must have been there since our childhood. My friend told me about that fact also when we discussed books and how books fulfilled our lifetime.

When talking about the Authors it could be a hard time for me to choose one author. Since I started to read a fiction novels long time ago, I have known some authors and become their fans because their masterpieces have my heart.

By the cover that I shared, I think you will know who is my favorite authors among the authors that I admire. I will talk about her because she is on the first list. She is Dewi Lestari or Dee Lestari.

At first, I knew Dee was an actress and singer. I had doubts that she could write, as we know sometimes actresses and actors use co-writers when they write books, but it turns out, that Dee really wrote her books herself.

I first got to know her work through the film Supernova in 2012, then in the same year, the film Perahu Kertas also became a hype for fans of Dee's novels. Admittedly, I watched the film adaptation of Perahu Kertas first before reading the novel, because at that time I doubted an actress would write and did not have enough access to buy the novel because my hometown was far from a big bookstore. So I only read it after I fell in love with the film. Not only that, I also fell in love with the novel Perahu Kertas. Dee said that Perahu Kertas was the first book she wrote (CMIIW), even though it was the first book she wrote, after going through many revisions, it became one of Dee's masterpieces that was widely loved.

For me she is J.K Rowling in Indonesia. :D

• Admiring her Writing Style

I believe that every writer has their own characteristics, and so does Dee. I will not talk about Dee's characteristics through the novel Perahu Kertas, but through her other works, those are the Supernova series and Aroma Karsa. Both of these books have the science fiction genre which then made me admire Dee with her writing style and limitless imagination.

For both novels, Dee admitted that she did read dozens books and did research for months. Like when she wrote Aroma Karsa, Dee did research on perfume and even did perfume mixing training abroad. Not only did she do fun things like mixing perfume, Dee also came directly to the TPA (Final Disposal Site) of waste in Bantar Gebang. She saw for herself how waste processing and the lives of the people around her bring her character Jati Wesi to life.

Likewise when she wrote one of the Supernova series: Gelombang (Waves). I remember Dee said that when she wrote this novel, she went to do research around Lake Toba in North Sumatera.

I know that the things I just mentioned above are the bare minimum that a writer should do. But what makes Dee different is how she implements the results of reading many books and doing various research, that's what makes Dee the first on my list of favorite authors. The exciting thing about reading Dee's books is that you can find a lot of new knowledge there. Some of the foreign words you find will lead you to google, so that when reading Dee's books it's like reading an encyclopedia.
