Hello, food lovers and friends greetings and happy summer. Yes, we have summer here in the North Hemisphere. But I know the south hemisphere has winter and the tropic has monsoon. Anyway, this recipe is suitable for all types of climates or weather. The flower snacks I made this name for this recipe. you can suggest me any if you think. It is fried in oil but not fatty. Simple, easy to make, tasty, crispy, and everybody will like it.
Ingredients:
1 cup 250 grams flour
1/4 cup of semolina
2 tbsp sugar
1 ts baking powder
1/2 ts salt
1/4 cup sunflower oil.
1 pinch of turmeric
2 tbsp. flour for dusting
3/4 cup oil for frying.
if you wish or want more sweetness use powdered sugar for dusting
Mix all dry ingredients in the bowl/tray I use a pie pan.
pour oil into dry ingredients and mix it the mixture should be clumpy when squeezed in the hand it will get clumped.
Use cold water gradually to make dough. Here I don't have any measure for water, just use your experience.
the dough should be not so soft or not so hard.
Cover and keep aside, for 1 hour or more doesn't matter.
I have to go to my clinic I kept it for 3 hours.
After came back from work I refreshed and started working on it.
Knead the dough for 2-3 minutes.
and cut in appropriate portions that are convenient for rolling dough.
Roll one ball at a time using a rolling pin as thin as 2mm.
After rolling the dough choose any cookie cutter available or according to your choice.
Cut the rolled dough using the cookie cutter. I choose the flower shape.
Keep the cuttings aside. we call it petals for making flowers.
Using 1 tbsp water and 1/2 tbsp flour make a slurry this is our glue.
Take one petal on the board and put the flour slurry in the center
As much as dip the tip of the finger and press it.
Repeat with the second petal(layer)
Than third.
Press in the center with the fingertip so they can stay together during the frying process.
Again here making flowers.
...................................................................
Mix a pinch of turmeric in a little leftover dough and make it yellow. Using any appropriate cutter make some small rounds to fix in the flower's center. or just press a small piece of dough.
The flowers are done now time to fry them.
Heat the frying pan and pour the oil sufficient for the flowers can dip in.
I took 1 cup but saved 1/4 cup after seeing the level.
After heating it check the oil temperature by putting a small piece of dough in the oil if the dough starts floating in the oil that means the oil is at the perfect temperature. Maintain this temperature all the time.
Slowly and carefully slide one by one flower into the hot oil and press the center using the spoon handle as shown in the photo.
Like this.
Fry them thoroughly on all sides without breaking them. Here is a little difficult to manage but it will be manageable.
After they turn brown and sound crispy( yes you hear the crispy sound) remove them from the oil and spread them on the kitchen paper.to drain all oil from them.
Use the leftover dough to make some diamond shapes and fry them in a light brown color. or make more flowers if you wish.
My visitors were very happy and enjoyed them. When are you making them?
